BurdaStyle Sewing Pattern B7468 Misses' Dress and Bonnet Costume

The sizing on this pattern is very poor. I'm not a dress-maker, but the design is simple enough and I enlisted the help of a friend who used to be a tailoress, so what could go wrong? I know my usual dress size - 16 - but to be sure we took my measurements and compared them to the chart on the pattern and it was the same. Even then we decided to go up a size. Having completed the back seam, shoulders and facing I tried it for size only to find it is about 6 inches too small. That being the case, I would have had to make to size 24 for it to fit. In fact it fits my friend who is tiny. I want this dress for historical re-enactment and thankfully, I have extra fabric and know of a way round this predicament, otherwise the fabric would have been totally wasted. I'd have been better off laying down on the fabric and getting my friend to draw round me, which might be what I need to when I make another one. Rubbish!!!
