GOLDEN QoR Watercolor, Mini Half Pan Set of 12 colors (7000015-0)

Such a cute little watercolour palette. Completely different to other small travel pallets. The watercolours are small half pans and they are held in place with a silicone surround. There are plenty of small mixing areas. QOR chose a great vibrant selection with both warm and cool primaries. The mixes from this set are just beautiful. The pigments flow so beautifully and some of the colours really push away other colours. I would highly suggest a good play session finding out all of the mixes you can get from such a small pallet. These watercolours are beautifully transparent and not chalky at all. I’ve definitely been put under the QOR spell and will be buying more from their range. I would put these on parr with Schmincke, Daniel Smith and Winsor & Newton Professional Artists Watercolours. I only wish QOR would sell individual half pans to go alongside the tubes.

Excellent clear colours

This is a very nicely thought out watercolour selection for mixing: three warm primaries, three cool primaries and three earth colours. They’re very strongly pigmented, so a little goes a long way, and the colour shift on drying is minimal. The tin is slim, lightweight and super stylish - ideal to take out and about. To begin with, however, the lid did not lie flat, so I had to stick it to the table with Blutack while painting in order to use the circular wells for mixing. A couple of weeks on, it seems happy to lie flat and works well as a mixing area.

I was given this as a birthday gift, it's a lot of money to spend on yourself, but I really will buy myself another when this runs out. That may take a while though as the paints are so well pigmented that you don't need a lot, they re-wet very well too. The Colour selection is just what you need to make so many different colours, the mixing areas are great too. It's a very well thought out set, and perfect to take out on a trip. It comes with a pre-printed swatch card so you can instantly see how the colours look. I also made another swatch card to see how they all mixed together, and there's such a variety of lovely colours that can be mixed. I have only one down point, the colours are so vibrant that it's very hard to lift them, so if you are someone who uses that technique a lot they may not suit you.

I finally have a set of Qors colours and they are amazing. They do take some getting use too since they flow so much in water, more then most, but the colour selection in this set is gorgeous. The on’y colour I am not fond of is the Sap Green. But I am sure I can adjust it by adding some yellow or blue to it to get it where I would lile it to be. The box itself is such a cute little box. So easy to carry. The silicone inlay does get stains from mixing but a light scrub amd it is good as new. The set is pricey, but I do reccomend it to anyone who wants professional vibrant watercolours. Happy Painting!

QoR watercolor paints are made by the Golden Paint Co...... the top maker of acrylic paints and I have used Golden acrylic paints for over 15 years. So I knew that their watercolor paints would also be first class. And they are. The paints are vibrant and flow beautifully.What I really love about this travel palette is the design. Congratulations to whomever designed it. I love the depressed circles that are stamped into the cover. They provide a lot of mixing areas which is so useful in a travel palette this size. In addition, there is a piece of watercolor paper inside the palette that is divided and marked into 12 sections to swatch the colors...... very helpful. I usually have to make my own swatch card, but the people at Golden/QoR have thought to include it. I also love the silicone insert that holds the half pans and also provides 2 more mixing areas. The silicone insert also has the letters A thru L embossed under each half pan .... the letters corresponding to the swatch card. Small details that make a difference.I love this travel palette.

I just love these sets! Beautiful colors and tins close easily and stay closed!

I was pleasantly surprised with this little set. The colors are quite vibrant. The silicone mixing places in the middle is/are interesting. I do believe it’s a bit high priced and you need to bring your own brushes. Overall a nice travel set. The paints are quality.

This QoR set, although a limited color palette, is one of the best I have seen regarding the color selection. I have the 24 color full set of QoR tubes and they have some of the brightest and strongest colors I've have ever used. This set is like a dream - very compact and is excellent for plein-air painting trips because it is so compact ! With a few brushes and a small pad of watercolor paper in a small pouch, you can paint anywhere you want. I highly recommend this set - it's beautiful! Thank you QoR for bringing us this great set! I just ordered two more sets to have on hand. Thanks!
