YAY for my BB
I did my research extensively before buying this phone, so I was aware that it does not have google services included .With that being said, this is a VERY powerful device, that works more like tablet rather than a smartphone. For only $200 it is a steal! One thing I do like is that you can use youtube, minimize the screen and still browse other sites with it playing. The keyboard is also a great asset! I am a lot more accurate typing on it than on a touch screen. The phone itself is built with high-quality materials. It has a metal frame running around the perimeter, which makes it look more elegant and classy. When I first opened the box I was shocked at its 4.5in x4.5 in screen. It is huge, and did take some getting used to - ( as a tip, get a privacy screen because people DO look at it, and CAN see your texts from far away.) One downside for this phone is that you can't see videos in full size. Since the screen is square, flipping it sideways does nothing. Personally, I use a kindle to watch movies and videos on the go anyways, so that was not really a deal breaker for me. I read some reviews stating it was too big to use with one hand. Well, I am a female and with the size of phones on the market nowadays, there are not many phones that I can use with one hand anyways. Also, if you ever used a blackberry in the past (such as a Q10), you know the "two handed" grip is kind of a staple. I debated between getting this phone and a blackberry classic. Due to the better processor and higher resolution I opted for this one and have not been disappointed. This phone is SO great in fact, that my hubby is looking to buy one as well! If google play and google services are important to you, I would not buy. However, if you are at all tach savvy you can get most google apps to work on it. I did and it works great! Can't say enough good things about it.
J**!
If Apple released a phone like this, people would be drooling over it.
"The Blackberry Passport is the worst thing to have happened to our relationship" - My wifeApparently I can't put this phone down. So here's the scoop:I've never really cared for phones. I only ever got my late iPhone 4S because I had started a job at an app development company and was told showing up with my Palm Trio would be embarrassing. Four years later: My wife upgraded to an iPhone 6S and the new-phone envy started to get to me.I decided to purchase the one phone that struck a cord with me: the Blackberry Passport. At nearly half the cost of an iphone (we buy our phones outright, and use Ting service to save money in the long run) i decided it was worth a shot.I love this phone, but here are some of the things I didn't anticipate:1. It took me about a week to get used to typing on a physical keyword, and after nearly a month with it, I'm not convinced yet that I'm any faster than the digital keyboard I was so familiar with. So for me, I'd say the physical keyboard is a bit of a wash.2. There is a sound associated with typing on a physical keyboard. So if you are like me, writing this review on your phone while your wife sleeps next to you... it can be pretty annoying to hear constant clicks. A downside to a nice tactile and audible feedback.3. No more consistent one handed operation. I've got large hands, and for the most part I'm using two hands on this thing.4. How much people love to hate on Blackberry. "I thought they were dead" is my most common response to showing off the phone. Because there seems to be so much hate I enjoy leaving the "sent from my Blackberry" stock email signature. Keener neener. Here are some of the things that pleasantly surprised me:1. How awesome the Blackberry operating system is.2. How quickly I could find answers to any blackberry related questions I had with a simple google search.3. How much I love having the ability to scoll through Web pages and online articles with the keyboard.4. How crystal clear the screen is.5. How well it fit in my pocket.Hope that helps.
