This was recommended by plastic surgeon following tummy tuck - - a high protein diet is recommended. I'm 2.5 weeks out from surgery and doc and nurses are impressed with my recovery and the appearance of my incision. It probably completely closed (no oozing/seeping) after about 1.5 weeks. I drank 2 per day with high protein foods.Okay - the taste has been mentioned in just about every review. While I was on painkillers, I felt that it was okay. It didn't bother me at all. I never felt it was delicious or anything like that, don't get me wrong. Since I've stopped taking drugs I find it almost unbearable. It kinda has a wet dog fruity smell that makes me gag.I want the best results so I will continue using this as a source of protein despite the taste. As I get on my feet and am able to work out again, I'd likely continue to use it. To be honest, I've struggled with the taste of every protein product I've tried. It's only 3.8 ounces; that's less than 1/2 a cup! I don't sip it or mix it with water, which only prolongs getting it down. Slam it like the shot that it is intended to be, don't breathe thru your nose until you're done, chase it with something that tastes better to you, and go on with your day. People who are saying they taste nasty and can't recommend anything about them are missing their true intent: high protein in small volume. Win win!! It's not intended to be a gourmet beverage. The artificial sweetener is also very strong.However, the acai berry tastes like how a very dirty litter box smells. I don't even know how this got approved to be a flavor. Getting your protein and supplements is important to stay healthy. Had it not been for these, I would've struggled. As for the taste. Room temp is best. I was able to gulp down half a bottle to replace one shake (20g). I stuck the box in my fridge. I do not like them refrigerated. Something about the temp changes the consistency and they seem to taste much sweeter and syrup like. Truly a life saver for me. Helped me be in ketstosis and lose 36lbs in 4 weeks time.
