First, the engraving pen WORKS. This far, I have used mine on rocks and have successfully begun what I hope results in “art”.Second, a cautionary observation. This is SHARP. Every time I accidentally brushed it against my skin, it caught my flesh. It needs to be sharp to function and I need to get some leather gloves.Lastly, the uppermost metal portion (tip end) unscrews presumably to allow for tip changes. On mine. The very sharp tip slides in and out using my fingers (it does not slide out on its own) while the uppermost portion is screwed on. This might result in a misplaced sharp tip that might meet my unsuspecting toe. I will remain aware of this while using and ensure it remains with the scriber when not in use.Overall, I am thrilled thus far and foresee many potential applications. In addition to rock etching, I will soon try it out on small clay pots already painted with a flat primer. I also think it will provide outstanding results in Zentangle art on hard surfaces. All my scribes on hand have a magnet on the back, but not these. For sure a missed opportunity. They’re still good. But I would not get these again without thr magnet.
