CURT 45048 Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter Reducer, 2-1/2 to 2-Inch, 34-in Extension, 4,500 lbs

Arrived so well packaged, before I opened I thought they sent me something bigger and better. Very nice bar and will do the trick. I did cut out a slot on the electrical plug mount so I could remove the cable if necessary without disassembly. I only removed enough to handle the cable then black lacquered it over. Some other brands longer bars have this slot so modeled after that. Put together an assembly for stability chains that will work with a Silverado receiver, so this will be this will have absolutely no problem handling a boat or flatbed.

This is a wonderful hitch extension. Fit my 3 inch Ford factory hitch perfectly. I did have to trim about an inch and a half off the base because of the spare tire. It did not affect the extension at all. So far has worked perfectly with my truck, Camper

Perfect item, as it offers the highest working load of any extension I could find. Works for bike rack and boat when pulling behind my 3/4 ton with truck camper on it. 4 stars because they should offer the shorter length instead of making customers break out the ol horizontal band saw.

I needed a long exstion for my short bed camper,and new camper. The camper is the largest short bed camper U can buy.I needed 40 inches of exstion to reach my boat trailer. I had two choses , 1 the 2" supper hitch that sold for $1200 too $1300 dallors. Or go to a class 5 2 1/2" hitch assy , with the 45048 receiver adapter. The cost of the 2 1/2" hitch and receiver adapter was $519.00 pluss safty chain and hard ware at $36.00. This system works great and was hafe the cost of a suppor hitch. I did go to a 13 inch stinger from a 10 inch. If you go this rout make sure to use the safty chain set up , it helps 75% on trailer bouncing up and down. Very happy Rob Eagle Point Or. I needed an extension so I could tow my utility trailer (with my Jeep) or my boat. This adapter/extension worked great once the 2.5" receiver tube was welded on. I added side chains which stabilized the lateral movement and had no problems. Now I'm set to go fishing, boating, and off-roading. I also have a Lance 915 truck camper, which extends about 18" behind the truck. I cut some off the Curt receiver adapter so it wouldn't be too long, which allows room for the ball to extend beyond the camper's bumper. This is perfect with the 16' utility trailer, which I use to carry my Jeep, tractor, or tree trimmings from my pecan orchard. The side chains mount to the Curtis unit and then go to a bracket welded onto the tie-downs (Torklift) making a perfect triangle. No side sway & better support for the trailer. Heavy duty assembly which has been in use for a couple of years now without any issues.

First, let me start by this is a great product and serves it’s intended purpose. It shipped quickly, arrived safe. For me, I was under the impression that it would fit into my 2” receiver hitch, that’s on me. It. Does. Not. But because I have a welder and skills, I made it work. This unit will fit the larger 2.5” diameter receiver, but not many trucks are outfitted with them. Be aware of that before purchasing. I ended up going to the metal yard and outfitting the extension with a smaller internal square tube, welded it in after trimming back the original length and re-drilling holes to line up with my receiver standard class 3 (2”) receiver hitch.

Worked perfectly for pulling my boat with a 2023 9-6 northern lite camper on a long box pickup.

I needed to extend my reach on my trucks hitch so I could tow my car trailer when my pick-up camper is on the truck. This hitch is rated for the load is well designed. It has a 'bend' in it so the connection point (2" ball) is elevated just enough so it doesn't bottom out when pulling into parking lots etc that are above the road level. Additional benefit I found is that the additional extended length actually keeps my 20' trailer within the track of my truck when turning at intersections. (ie as I turned right, the trailer shifts slightly to the left as I start the turn. I quickly became comfortable turning and manoeuvring in parking lots without needing to allow as wide 'birth' as a shorter coupled trailer.

This unit works great with an oversize camper on a long box PU. No issues hauling the 22’ fishing boat while hauling the oversize camper. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a longer reach for trailer clearance

Bought this to extend my hitch so I can load my side by side and haul my holiday trailer. I haven’t given a road test yet but it seems to be well built and I’m hoping it can handle the weight ! We will see come camping season !

Used the hitch for the first time last weekend and worked really good. Nice features with the safety chains and trailer power cord bracket.
