Colors of the sea and sand. A detail from J.W. Waterhouse’s 1901 painting A Mermaid is set in an oval 22x30mm silver plated pendant setting, sealed with a clear glass cabochon, then finished with a fine silver chain around the bezel. The back and sides of the pendant are decorated with handmade polymer clay seashells, pearl beads and Swarovski rhinestones. Hanging from the bottom of the pendant is a sterling silver seahorse charm. The image is crisp and clear and printed on premium photo paper. The seashell dangles are all made with polymer clay and sealed. I make my own molds from shells I have found over the years. Because they are handmade they are each a little different. All the dangles are made with polymer clay shells, Swarovski crystal beads and freshwater pearls. The beads and shells are attached to silver-plate chain. I created this necklace using Swarovski crystal beads ranging in size from 8mm to 4mm. The gemstones used are turquoise and sunstone chips, and freshwater pearls. , The necklace is 19 inches long. The clasp is a silver-plate lobster clasp and a handmade 2 ½ inch beaded extender. I use only the finest 49 strand beading wire and finish each strand with silver plated wire guards.
