Wonderful start to a new series
The Mary that I come to love is back! If this is how the prequel to the series starts, I can’t wait for the succeeding books .I don’t care for the h at first since she seems like a mercenary snob (albeit poor) and I was even hoping they don’t end up together but thankfully I began to understand her motives and she seemed to have redeemed herself (in my eyes).Anyway, I can’t wait for June so I can read the next book in this series.Highly recommended5 stars

Delightful Opener for a New Series
Who could develop a delightful romance between a fortune-hunting widow and contented, middle-aged businessman. Mary Kingswood! She is a master at developing charming, sympathetic characters from unlikely people. In this short novel, she sets the stage with a cast of interesting family members who are attempting to move from tradesmen to gentry. As always, she leaves us eager for more.

A Wonderful Start to Hours of Incredible Reading!
Once again this author spins a tale that hold you spellbound. I can’t wait for more details of the lives of these characters. The stories are always so unique, so interesting, you want more! Reminds me of when Downton Abbey started. It was hard to wait for the next installment as you watched, read, the lives of these people open up!

I didnt expect the ending!
I loved this story. It's always hard for me to start a new series, but I promised myself 30 mins and finished the book today! It got to the point fairly quickly and was a sweet read.

It’s Goung to Be Another Good One!!
Admittedly, I was not too impressed with how this book starts off. I don’t care for scheming women. But I kept going and ended up liking it very much. It has a little different “feel” than Ms. Kingswood’s other series but look forward to Book 1.

Another Great Series
Mary’s characters are always interesting and come alive. I have read two of her other series and enjoyed them all. I am looking forward to reading the love stories for this wealthy working class family, as it transitions to the higher class of landowners.

A wonderful prequel to Ms. Kingswood's new series The Mercer's House. Can't wait to read the series.
