Wonderful projects if you crochet
I have made every pair of slippers in this book multiple times. People who are friends and crochet after seeing it buy copies of their own. Go for it.

Ugliest patterns I have ever seen...
These patterns are hideous, and I am an old lady who doesn't care at all about style in general. But if I am going to spend substantial time making something, I want it to at least not make me horrified every time I look at it. Worse, Annie's Attic is less than stellar about keeping patterns updated with corrections, and nobody, apparently, bothers to check if the directions are clear. They are also less than generous with diagrams or fitting instructions. I know of only one company with a sterling reputation for correcting patterns (Lion Brand), and a second one that used to have that reputation, but seems to be having problems lately, possibly due to website issues (Interweave). I have learned to my dismay that foreign-published volumes which have been *carefully* translated are infinitely superior to American-published ones. The problem is numbers. I sell pearls for a living, and people always, always focus on $ per size, when size is arguably the least important pearl factor, just as it is for many gems. A smaller, high-quality gem/pearl can literally astound anyone (including anyone you would like to impress) unfamiliar with what real quality looks like, but Americans still go for size, even though they are more likely than not getting a fake for the price. The same holds true for patterns and stitches: The more that are in the book (or the more per dollar of price, that is, the cheaper the book), the more likely they are to contain errors, lack clarity, and eschew helpful diagrams and discussions. The highest quality craft books are all from Japan, even when they are not in English. That is because every step, no matter how small, has a diagram or photo or both. When I started paring down, I often kept the untranslated Japanese books on a subject and sold the American ones.I recommend this book only if you are taking advantage of Amazon.com's Buy-3-Get-One-Free offer on many booklets and notions. Given that you will usually get free shipping on top of that, it is a worthwhile deal. More than craft booklets count; there are many less-expensive paperbacks, notions such as stitch counters, etc., that you can combine, although it must state that it is a qualifying item. If you are physically handicapped and cannot get out (or are a caregiver), it is a godsend.

It has patterns that range from easy to expert
This is more or less a pamphlet type booklet. It has patterns that range from easy to expert. I am a beginner and most of the patterns are above my skill level. I look forward to working my way into these patterns.

Slip away!
Have had this maglet in the past but lost it along the way. It makes awesome slippers, easy to read patterns and lots of patterns to choose from. Is also easy enough to switch from the expensive yarns they recommend for the project, to a cheaper 'like' item yarn. I've made dozens of slippers over the past few years for grandkids, family, friends..just never any for me! Now that I'll have the book soon, first pair made will be for me!

Underwhelmed
Purchased for my mom who enjoys crochet...she seemed underwhelmed. After asking, she reported that she felt that the slippers where complicated to make. I don't know if I should blame this on her or the book. Maybe it would be helpful to add skill level.

American Terminology
Although I am getting used to using books with US instructions, it would have been nice if this fact was shown in the product description.
