A joy to read!
Sir David Attenborough to me is not only a national treasure for Great Britian, but a treasure to this planet we inhabit. I have all of his series (all that are available in the US, at least) and usually these series are accompanied by a corresponding book, which I try to read along with while viewing the episodes in each series. The Life of Birds is probably my favorite documentary series by Sir David, and the accompanying book is just as delightful. Filled with amazing photographs and enlightening text, this is one of the better natural histories of birds written and a joy to read.

Another terrific book
My son bought the Life of Mammals and read it faster than fast. He loved everything about the book: the descriptions, the new animals that he didn't know about as well as interesting facts about them, the incredible pictures, etc. He couldn't wait to buy the Life of Birds and he was not disappointed in this book either. For him, it was a page turner. My other 2 sons have started reading both books as well and they love them as much as my first son. These books are engaging and frankly, are coffee table worthy as well!

Superb Book
It's been around a while (witness the author's photo), but still a compelling read with science and anecdotes and fabulous photos that will keep you engaged.

Absolutely the Best Bird Read EVER!
The organization of topics and flow from one to the other make this the only book about birds I have read from cover to cover. David Attenborough's distinctive prose is as much a pleasure to read as it is to listen to in his documentaries. The information offered is fascinating and, from what I gather, new at the time of publication to even the scientific world. As an aviculture hobbyist and lifelong bird lover The Life of Birds is the cherry on the cake of my book collection. If my house were on fire or I had to spend a year on a desert island and I could only keep one book it would be David Attenborough's The Life of Birds.

A wonderful read
A lovely book with some of the best printing I have seen in a while - glossy paper and superb clarity. This is a reading of Attenborough's wonderful style, ever facinating and informative. I have it by my bed side and my wife insists I read something to her from this book before going to sleep. Highly recommended.

Yes!!! if you love birds as I do.
I've read the book and see the movie. Both are most enjoyable. Lots of pictures in the book. Rare in a movie to see such close-ups of so many rare birds!!!

Beautiful book.
Only problem is that the cover came a bit creased. I had to iron to try to straighten it.
