Legend of Korra: The Art of the Animated Series Book Two: Spirits

Stunning artwork for a great animated series!! A must-have!!
Book Two is my favourite season of the series. Still, the book isn't. The book is arranged the same way they did with Book One but the info quality is not the same. There might be a lot of reasons for this. One of those could be time. The creators have emphasized that each new season brings more challenges and even when they learn how do deal with a lot of stuff, there is no easy path to complete each book (season). So time constraint could be one of them. Lets put aside this thing and talk about the artwork itself. The main characters get new suits! Painted backgrounds are amazing, I really like it that there are flat shapes, they are very organic, the brush strokes really add an interesting feeling for the whole thing.Storyboards are so well developed, you can really tell they care about camera angles, timing and character emotion. There is some face studies spread in the entire book that you will find both interesting and funny. There are not that much animal hybrids in this book. You could say they come as spirits this time. When I first saw the avatar Wan episodes i didn't like the new look, the style. But then you realize the creators wanted to deliver a separate story, make it special, and make it memorable. In the end they succeeded. We got to see the lion-turtles from the original series so that was a blast!I give this book a 4-star rating because there is no that much info being shared by the creators. The artwork is great as always, you will enjoy it. If you haven't seen Season 2, then you should not look at this book, it will spoil the whole season for you. So watch the whole season and then look at the book, you will enjoy it as much as the series itself. This is a really must have for any fan of the series and animation enthusiast!!

Although many LOK fans would consider season 2 "not the best in quality" (these fans would use stronger words to describe their opinions), I enjoyed season 2. I bought this for a friend, who enjoys and loves the world of Avatar just as much as I do. The artwork done by the LOK team is amazing. I was quite happy to hear that artwork for LOK would be divided by seasons. Although this meant spending more money, I was able to see even MORE artwork from my beloved artists, as well as words from Bryke, writers, and other producers.

Good work on the second chapter of the Korra saga
Lots of good concept art and ideas. I wished that there'd be more on the First Avatar Wan, especially the cat-deer. Other than that, it was really good.

It's a great book! The art is fantastic and I love the bits of info is given about the characters and about how their designs came about. This is an amazing gift to any Korra fan. I was happy to see it showed the animation process of different scenes.

Stunning collection of Book 2's production artwork
As an animation enthusiast and fan of the Avatar franchise, I couldn't wait for this newest book that showcases the artwork of Legend of Korra's second season and I have not been disappointed as it provides a fascinating look into the production process behind each episode. This volume follows the same layout as the previous books for Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra Book 1, so it's laid out in an easy to follow 'episode-by-episode' format with each chapter showcasing the designs for characters, props, vehicles and creatures as well as key action storyboard sequences and environment paintings created by the show's incredibly talented creative team, as well as an additional chapter featuring artwork created for promotional purposes. As with the previous books, each page features annotations by the franchise creators Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko and director/producer Joaquim Dos Santos and like the previous volumes, the book is very well made with high quality printing across 184 pages (40 pages more than the previous volume for Book 1).I would recommend this book to fans of Legend of Korra and owners of the previous art books for the franchise, and I look forward to the art book for the show's third season.
