I’ve used a lot of hubs over the years, and most fall into two categories: “limited” or “temperamental.” The Aqara M3 has ended up being the brains of my smart home — but I’ll be honest, we had a rocky start. Setup – mostly smooth Getting it up and running was straightforward, and adding devices was quick. It immediately felt like a more capable, future-proof hub compared to many others I’ve used. Connectivity superpowers This thing is a proper multi-protocol workhorse: ✔ Zigbee devices pair fast and stay connected ✔ Matter devices integrate nicely ✔ Acts as a Thread Border Router ✔ Brings multiple ecosystems together in one place It’s reduced my hub clutter and made automations far more centralised. The UniFi hiccup (and excellent support) I did run into some early issues using it on a UniFi Network setup. Certain Matter connections were being stubborn and things weren’t behaving as expected. Here’s where Aqara really impressed me: their support team stepped in, made some backend adjustments remotely (actual wizardry), and after that everything settled down and started working properly. Since then, it’s been solid. So if you’re on a more advanced network and hit issues, don’t panic — support clearly knows their stuff. Reliability – the real win Since getting past that initial network quirk, the M3 has been excellent. - Automations trigger quickly - Devices stay connected - No random reboots or “offline” moods It’s the kind of device you stop thinking about — which is exactly what you want from a smart home hub. Local control = fast responses A lot of automations run locally, so things respond quickly and don’t fall over if the internet has a wobble. Lights and buttons feel instant, not cloud-delayed. Verdict Early networking hiccup aside (which support sorted quickly), the Aqara M3 has turned into a rock-solid, extremely capable hub. If you want one hub to handle Zigbee, Matter, and Thread and you value strong support behind it, this is an easy recommendation. Now it just quietly runs the house like a tiny, sensible overlord.

I had to come back and change my review. I just had to. I had some issues with the hub and sockets, the Aqara CS was top! They’ve sent the replacements and provided support. I wanted to leave a 4* review, but the CS is so good, you have to give them 5*, especially when everything works now as it should !

First off if you're a home tec fan and want to get into matter devices this is a good way to start. Set up, as with most Aqara devices is straight forward. The problems begin when you add it to an existing system. Maybe if your entire house is matter enabled it might work. Doubt many are. I just added a second M3 to my system and it basically wiped out every automation I had. The hub migration should be avoided. If I add another I'll just add devices slowly and keep the old hub in place until i have manually transferred each device over. I don’t want my wife asking me why the light switches are flashing red and why she can’t check the temperature in the downstairs loo!

I upgraded to the Aqara Smart Hub M3 to replace my old Aqara hub, and I’m so glad I did! The setup was a breeze, and it integrates seamlessly with all my smart devices. The hub supports Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, making it incredibly versatile. It works perfectly with Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, SmartThings, and IFTTT, giving me full control over my home automation. It's a fantastic, reliable hub with excellent connectivity. Highly recommended!

I bought this item looking to replace my Home Assistant setup hoping to simplify my entire system with a better user interface and not something that preoccupies me with coding. At the time of this review, the Aqara Hub was easy to install but the big problem was that hardly any of my Zigbee and Wi-Fi devices are compatible with it. This hub is quite proprietary and seems the only Zigbee devices that it works with are mainly those made by Aqara. Shame as I liked the hardware compactness and the intuitive user interface all at a reasonable price. Anyone starting to build a smart home system from scratch should not have this issue as long as compatible devices are also purchased. I am staying with HA on an intel NUC for now as I have too much invested in a mixture of smart device manufacturers.

Most likely the worst product Aqara has ever made, I love Aqara products my house is littered with it. But this product is just rubbish, all my automations stopped working, can’t load anything Matter related and the IR Blaster can not pick up my LG TV or Shy Box. Adaption into Apple Home worked and transferred most of my kit but left out many items in the transfer. Only thing I feel is worthwhile is the new built in speaker to use as an alarm, speaking of which, this hub has broken that too. My advice is AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. it pains me to say that as a Aqara fan boy, but don’t waste your money!

Using this with U200 smart door lock and G410 video door bell from aqura. I already had the door bell and lock so adding the hub was abit of a pain as I had to repair the lock and door bell to the hub. If I had the hub first I wouldn’t see it as an issue. But works well I am able to control the lock and door bell outside the home. Also I have pair this up to home assistant great job.

I knew that I needed a hub but I’didn’t know which hub to buy so I just jumped in and bought the M3. I couldn’t find anything that explained what each was able to do. I have a home to smart tech to and the M3 looks like it will do what I need. It’s easy to add items and to program. It looks to be well made so I’m happy

Tout simplement génial et tellement facile à installer et à paramétrer avec HOME KIT CONTRÔLLEUR D’APLE. Tout est simple et facile pour ajouter des accessoires de différentes marques. Je suis très fan ! Il me reste encore cependant à ajouter les caméras extérieures et intérieures Bosch avec HOME KIT CONTRÔLLER et où AQARA … À suivre donc pour ce point !
