Discover Green Caviar also known as Sea Grapes, Umibudo or Seaweed Pearls. Sea grapes, also known as Umibudo, is a tropical aquatic vegetable that is very popular in Japan where it is considered a delicacy. It is highly regarded for its succulent appearance, refreshing taste and pleasing “pop” when you eat it. The sea grapes seem to almost explode in the mouth releasing a unique flavor of the sea! In search of other secrets of nature, we have found in Japan: Green caviar! Sea water plants with the highest nutrient density from the genus of Caulerpa Lentillifera algae, a natural seaweed – alga, which is cultivated, cultivated and processed in Japan. Each bag ordered contains 3.5oz/100g dehydrated Umibudo algae which yields about 500g/1 pound of fresh sea grapes once soaked. This kind of seaweed can reach up to 5 meters in length but only the extremities including the so called “sea grapes” are consumed. Here in Okinawa, Japan we harvest our sea grapes where they have been enjoyed for eons. Sea grapes are usually eaten raw with vinegar, as a snack or in a salad. You can enjoy them raw with soy sauce or rice vinegar mixed with mustard. Due to their exceptional surface, these aquatic plants can absorb valuable nutrients such as amino acids, mineral salts, trace elements, vitamins, polyphenols and flavonoids from the seawater and – in comparison to terrestrial plants – store up to 1000 times higher concentration. In Japan, this alga is a delicacy and makes for a fantastic decoration. The sea pearls/sea grapes are eaten fresh, dressed as a salad or simply as a snack in between. They slightly taste like seaweed and have a consistency like real caviar, a crisp freshness kick when eating the natural sea grapes is guaranteed.

3 stars
I just wanted to try this after seeing so many ASMR videos of people chowing down on it. It did plump up after letting it sit in a bowl of fresh water, but I’m giving it 3 stars for taste and freshness. Taste was just ok, and it started giving off a bad smell after just one day. I will say though that you get a LOT of sea grapes, so eat them quickly or share with a bunch of people.

Gross...
I ignored the bad reviews because I really wanted to try sea grapes and I’m SURE some people like these. I personally think they are disgusting and I am not a picky eater whatsoever. I am Asian and comfortable eating all types of food, but I had to throw this away. No amount of sauce could cover the poor taste. AND the texture wasn’t what I thought it’d be. So if you’re reading this and debating if you should get some, don’t waste your money or time.

Great for ASMR
I've seen this all over youtube with ASMR channels and decided to give it a try. It is very satisfying to eat and is kinda like bobba popping pearls. Great with salads!

Smelled like a sewer plant
Bought them for my daughter because she saw some you tube videos of people eating them and she likes seaweed so why not right? As soon as I opened the BOX that it came in the smell was over bearing. I hadn't even opened the bag yet. They say dehydrated but there was a lot of liquid and the color was not very green. I wondered if they were maybe bad? My daughter ended up opening the package and it smelled like a sewer plant in my kitchen for hours...she also did not like the taste and we ended up throwing them away. If you want to play a nasty joke on someone for the smell definitely buy these. Lol

Fun to eat
These are fun to eat. My kids didn't like it first cause I had put it in water too long, therefore was bland but once I left it in only for a few minutes, didn't take out all the salt, my kids devoured them. Healthy too.

HORRIBLE ODOR!
I wanted to like these but as soon as I opened them it smelled like a crowd of ppl collectively took a dump in my kitchen, horrible odor! Ordered some more seagrapes elsewhere and they turned out fresh like they are supposed to with no rotten smell.

taste great but pricey
Took about 2 weeks to arrive (came from Germany).Taste great, but pricey given the fact that it barely fills a small cereal bowl.
