Single Walnut Wood Challenge Coin Presentation Display Box Storage Case with Hinge/Clear Top and Plastic Coin Capsules with Adjustable Gasket

This nicely made wooden display box is intended for display of challenge coins, but may be used for a political button, a collectible coin, or another circular item. The exterior of the box is 3-3/8 inches square and 1-3/8 inches high. The coin must fit inside the circular 2-inch diameter indentation in the padded backing, which is solidly glued into the box and would be hard to modify. And the coin must be no thicker than 1/8 inch. (The description from the seller says the interior of the box is customizable, but it is firmly glued.)A plastic coin case is included, and it has a soft insert (gasket) that can be made smaller to fit the diameter of your coin. This case allows the coin to be safely removed from the box and viewed from both sides, while still protected in the case.The metal clasp is a cute design. The two hinges on the back are serviceable. The empty box weighs 3.75 oz.The only ding I'd give is that the clear top is acrylic, and has already suffered a few light scratches from my measuring and evaluating the box.

The case has an attractive hardwood grain and functional easy to use clasp. The coin capsule is large enough for most coins one could imagine, and has a black foam gasket that conforms to many different sizes of coins so that any size coin is snug and secure and has an attractive background.Although the case appears well-built, there are a couple of minor flaws. There is a slight wearing of the wood and finish at the sharp corners of the box; a slight rounding to the edge may have prevented this. The hinges don't look perfectly even and the screws are slightly different heights/angles, even though the hinges are completely functional, smooth, and strong. The glass pane isn't firmly fixed and wobbles a bit when shaken or nudged. See attached images. These are minor flaws overall, but I'm calling them out since this is not the cheapest case available and if you're looking for high-end, you might have to pay up even more.Overall a decent value and very attractive, and is less expensive than a hand-crafted or artisan box.
