TORN
I was very torn after reading "Still Your Guy"-- about what to rate it, and what to say in any possible review. I am a huge Devon McCormack fan. Probably read most if not all his books. Now...could I say that I was uniquely challenged by having to suffer through one of the main characters being an ungrateful, self-centered, selfish, and insensitive prick? Yes. That's more than fair to say. Do I acknowledge the inexplicable justification McCormack gives us as to how Mason could continue loving Chase after being unceremoniously dumped by him for no evident reason...especially given how Chase cruelly continues inserting himself into Mason's life (and indeed, that of his family) to keep the wound of his departure open and bleeding for Mason? Check. That's a definite "YEP". For those reasons I couldn't find the resolution of Chance and Mason's story to be all that satisfying, particularly as the dislike which built up over the course of the first 90% of the book for Chase couldn't be set aside for the sake of Mason's ultimate happiness. In fact....I kept hoping Mason was going to send Chase packing back to L.A. and make a go of it with the pharmaceutical rep with who he had an on-going "thing". So all this was because Chase never felt part of Mason's family and; and he also didn't want to wreck the thing he loved the most (presumably his love for Mason)? So, instead Chase acts unilaterally and cruelly so as not to wreck his relationship with Mason? Nope. Not buying it. I remain a Devon McCormack fan, and despite the lame rationale of this story, I will continue hoping the next one is more true to form. But "Still Your Guy" just gave me too many WTF moments every time Chase opened a mouth and started with the excuse-making.

Must Read!!!!!!!!!
Ok, excuse me while I fanboy for just a moment. I truly believe that Devon McCormack can write virtually anything he sets his mind to. While too many authors in the field stick to one style, one voice, to tell a story, he’s a veritable writing chameleon, able to apply unique writing styles to his work. He has the ability to take tried and true tropes, and give them a fresh spin, making each book he writes a true work of art. You never know what you’re going to get with one of his books because he refuses to follow a formula. This is a very good thing because it makes him a unique voice that stands out from a saturated crowd, and virtually guarantees his longevity. In “Still Your Guy”, he takes the second-chance trope, and turns it on it’s head. Mason and Chase were married before it was legal to do so. They separated a while after. Now, thanks to the Supreme Court decision legalizing Same-Sex Marriage, their marriage is now legal, and yet they lead separate lives on opposite sides of the country. Mason’s sisters impending wedding acts as the impetus to bring Chase home. From the first page, you know these two still love each other. Their emotions are raw and just below the surface. They almost literally ache for each other, but so much time has passed each wonders how they can make it work.Devon asks a question in this book that I have never seen in a second-chance book: You loved me then, but can you love the person I’ve become? It’s this question that permeates the book, and speaks to the change all of us experience as we grow older. We all change. Can the people that are important to us accept that change, or will they leave us behind? This book very quickly became my favorite of his solo work. There’s just so much character and emotional depth that you find you have to see how it all plays out.

I enjoyed this book
I enjoyed this book. Who doesn't believe in second chances and that, yes, sometimes you can go home again?I totally understood why Chase did what he did. I hated that he felt the need to constantly apologize for it. He and Mason were in different places back then. Chase needed a chance to go out on his own in order to grow and follow his dreams. Mason could have moved with Chase but he wouldn't have been happy.I think that, in the end, it's their time apart that made their relationship stronger. Chase learned that there was no one else out there like Mason for him. While Mason was able to keep his family business together. They both learned how to live apart which gave them the ability to actually live together with who they've become today. This book made me cry because it truly was heart wrenching to go between the past and present as these two worked on their relationship together. Thanks Devon for putting it back together in the end.

True LOVE at its best
4.5*Devon McCormack did it again. His new solo book Still Your Guy is another masterpiece and a perfect gem for my taste. I love books that focus solely on a relationship, the connection between two guys, so I was in absolute book heaven while reading this story.I also enjoy stories that leave the usual linear plotline and give a little twist to the structure by jumping time regularly. I was totally absobed in this story and getting to know Mason and Chase, their shared past was a wonderful journey with heartwarming and heartbreaking details and the most carnal type of love imaginable.Past episodes are embedded into the present plotline that help us understand where our MCs are coming from, what they have been through together and what events have lead to their present situation. The writer's skills are perfectly proven in the first few pages where he could create an atmosphere in such a short time establishing a truly powerful connection and amazing chemistry between Mason and Chase and also showing the underlying tension, the unspoken past. He makes us curious. Makes us want to know what had happened to these two guys. Reading this story will give you all the answers you need and also will make you believe in love in its purest, most wonderful form. The writing is flawless, the characters well developed and truly loveable and every detail has its own place to make this book memorable. Highly recommended.

All the feels
Chase and Mason. Two young men in love. One determined to make something of himself, to honor Ma, the other continuing the family business. Years of separation; confusion and heartache. But, love conquers all! Devon writes with such skill, such insight that I was there with Chase and Mason, feeling the feelings, crossing fingers for their future and, yes, shedding a few tears along the way. Still Your Guy; a truly beautiful story.

So So
Sorry but I was really disappointed in this story. It was slow to start and I did think about not continuing. I was really frustrated with Chase especially. I didn't think his excuses were valid and I ended up not liking the character at all therefore couldn't get really invested in the story. I liked Mason and wanted him to get his happy ending so good in that respect.

WAITNG FOR YOU
I must confess that l do not like stories that keep jumping backwards. It takes away the suspense because you know that they will continue. I would rather start at the start and see the relationship move forward in a linear style.

Great read
This was a good read - fun for the most part, with a few heartbreaking moments along the way.Chase and Mason met when they were 10. Circumstances saw them spending more time together, and as they grew closer they realised their attraction for each other. Their love grew, and they chose to get married at 18, despite the warnings from their family. After heading off to different colleges, Chase made the hard call that he didn't want Mason to give up his dreams while Chase pursued his, breaking them up. Several years later, the state laws changed and their previously unrecognised marriage was now legal. But they weren't together and were off living their separate lives.11 years on, the engagement party for Mason's sister Emery, who was like a sister to Chase as well, sees the 2 of them spending more time together than they have over recent years. What they discovered is that their chemistry, and the underlying love they felt for each other for all those years, hasn't faded. The story follows them reconnecting, and then working out how to navigate the real world, and the same issues that they faced 11 years ago - those circumstances hadn't changed. It is a sweet story for the most part. The flashbacks to their childhood provides greater insight to the depth of connection they had and the despair they both went through when they separated.I did find it odd how the word 'husband' was thrown around so much when they spent time again. It's been 11 years and they never thought about divorce when the laws changed? And now suddenly they're thinking of the other as their husband, not an ex? It was a bit strange. The epilogue set 14 years down the track was well written and closed out some of the remaining plotlines that hadn't been completed by the last chapter. It was sweet to see their connection still there after all those years too.I look forward to more from this author.

Great second chance romance
Still Your Guy is a sweet and lovely second chance romance.I loved the dynamic between the two main characters, Chase and Mason. Their feelings for each other were so intense and so freaking emotional, I loved it! I’m just a total sucker for emotional second chance romances, and this one fit perfectly in this category.Although sometimes the plot seemed a little bit unnecessary and to be honest I didn’t quite understand why they broke up in the first place (and I kept waiting for a reasonable explanation) but I was still so in love with Chase and Mason that this didn’t matter. Both were sweet, hot and heartfelt characters and I’ll definitely read another book by Devon McCormack in the future. A great read.
