Leaving the Enchanted Forest: The Path from Relationship Addiction to Intimacy

As a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist, I have been referring people to this book for at least 20 years. EVERYONE I have recommended it to over those years has raved about how good it is. And I agree completely. It does with fairy stories what USES OF ENCHANTMENT did to psychology, but applying it to relationships. It focuses thinking and causes people to confront their fantasies about relationships, moving them toward more genuine and more intimate relationships. Pity it is so hard to find, and at these cheap prices I rather assume it will soon be out of print. Alas! I read this book over 20 years ago....and I still cherish it. Not that I read it anymore, but refer to it to find those passages (and there are a lot of them) that helped me so much. My copy is pretty marked up with highlights and notes. I won't ever part with the book, as it has it's place on my bookshelf; each time i happen to see it, I smile... I just purchased one for a friend and have referred others to this book over the years. I was so happy to find it as I thought it was out of print. Best self help book I have every read!!!!

Absolutely love this book. Makes you take a good look at how all relationships in your life are connected and effect your present life.

This book has a way of assisting you in going back and remembering the path we have come from that brought us to where we are now. I experienced many tears. It has interractive sections that require active participation, soul searching, and remembering. If you are really ready to face your demons and move forward, I would whole-hearted recommend this book, particularly to women who struggle to maintain a healthy long-term romantic relationship.

Was a good read for me, coming from a alcoholic dysfunctional home. Had helpful insights.
