Crashed
The computer while it worked was amazing. I've had it less the 5 months. Only downloaded my game (world of warcraft) shut down the computer for the night woke the next morning and it wont turn on. The power light flashes and that's it. Was told it was the poser cord, replaced it and it still doesn't work.

Desktop killer with one fault
This is by far the best laptop at this price point. I received this product when on sale for a total of $900. With an I Core 7 7700HQ and RX 580 8gb, it blazes through games. GTA 5 at Max runs at 38 FPS. More realistic is at very high and solid at 80 to 90 FPS. It has HP cool sense which kicks on the fans pretty quickly but with a full size desktop GPU, it should! I got an aggressive cooling pad to keep it from thermal throttling. It does get warm around the right wrist rest where the HDD is, a SSD will save some heat and power so invest in one. Far cry 5 runs at 57 fps Max. Freesync is available for a connection via HDMI or thunderbolt 3(gen 1). Now to the one drawback to this desktop killer, the screen. The 17in screen bleeds on the bottom and is very dim. It's almost a deal breaker if the parts weren't top of the line. I stress the fact if you are going to travel with it, get a connection to a freesync monitor. The color runs warm and dark or cool and washed out. It's color Gambit is 54% and HP has stated no upgrade is available for self correction. If or when the ability becomes available, this would be the perfect laptop.Pros: software is premiumCPUGPU2400mHz ddr4 RamUpgrades easyThunderbolt 3Cons:SCREENHeat

⚠ refurbished ⚠
Wireless sucks, I'Jj😩m going going to get a USB wireless adapter... Even though it had one built it... Doesn't work.... Yet to test video card since I can't download games. I'm looking forward to playing Battlefield 1 on this. It's kinda slow for an i7.... Hoping the video card doest suck like the wireless and the i7 processor. On the bright side. Flawless shell/frame back lit keyboard, great display, all keys on keyboard work, nice sound, and a quick charger. Battery life is meh... It's OK for $920 but not for $1300.. I was this close to returning it. But then again it's refurbished.. Can't expect new. Still $920 is a lot of $ like 4 weeks of work with optimal savings. 2 stars for this item. If the wireless worked 100% I'd give it 4 stars. Last star would be for the speed of the refurbished i7 inside.. Loading internet pages should be instant and installing should be fairly quick.... Which its not. Hope this helps pick your next laptop purchase.

Monitor issues, pending
When it works it is an amazing laptop and a great price. My ONLY issue is the the monitor built into it shuts down while attempting to use. Tried external monitor but no luck. Tried increasing air flow with no luck as well.Update- after resetting windows I no longer have any issues with the computerThis issue I am hoping this issue can be resolved. That is my only issue I am having however it is a really big issue having to restart the computer because the monitor doesn't want to work properly.

Risky purchase
The media could not be loaded. As soon as I got it, during the set up, it started glitching. Screen went black, tuned back on, then the screen proceeded to flash green, blue, and black for a few seconds. It stopped so I went to the internet and downloaded steam. While downloading a game, it did this 4 more times. On the forth time it didn’t stop. I had to manually shut down the computer and turn it back on to see if it was just a little glitch during the set up (it is refurbished). Tried to play a game, it did the flashing screen again for a few seconds them stopped and displayed a message indicating a bad device driver or bad hardware was indicated. Going to send this one back and try another one. Could just be this computer, not the model. Has good specs and solid build, but buying a renewed/refurbished Computer is a risky purchase.

Good computer but terrible battery life
Good computer for the price, with great graphics, fast startup, capacity to handle multiple tasks well. However, the battery life is woefully in adequate.

Work great out of the box with no issues!!
So far so good. With all the negative reviews out there, this certified refurbished (new) is great and is working very well. May come back in a few months to update this review or comment.

Integrated graphics are disabled on this machine. Only uses the dedicated Radeon RX580
I did not like that it did not come with a ssd, so I drop in a 970 evo from Samsung and now this puppy turned into a speed monster. The RX 580 continues to amaze me over and over and yes it does walk over my 1060 mobile in most of my games. I did not like the idea that they disable the intergraded graphics built in the i7700HQ cpu, . This would make the battery last longer when not needing the dedicated card. The hard drive that comes stock is a 1Tb,7200 Rpm drive so it will work well holding large games and data storage along with a ssd for your OS. Also the speed is much faster than your typical 5400 speed drives you normally see when a harddrive is present. A very capable and well built and heavy 17 in. gaming laptop. Pleased
