Pee-wee's Playhouse: The Complete Series

I love the BluRay version, however the cardboard box that holds the DVDs ripped right away. When I opened the package, I noticed the box set looked like it was torn on all edges, but I thought it may have been part of the box design because it didn't look too prominent. But then it ripped apart as soon as I picked it up. It didn't happen in shipping because it was packaged and protected well it looked like. I spent a lot of money on this so I'm pretty upset with the box ripping like that. It must have been torn before they sent it to me. I'm pretty upset with that because this was expensive, and I wanted to display it in my room. I am a "completest"collector which means I like to collect every version of a show that I like as it comes out. I really wanted this version to last, and to display it in my room...I watched a few episodes though, and the restoration is incredible. I can't believe all the details I never noticed because the DVD and VHS versions are just so blurry and grainy. With a show with such high production design, it's so incredible to finally see the background in high sharpness! I'm going to have so much fun re-watching these and checking out the bonus features. The pilot episode was just incredible to see with such great quality and clarity!

I brought this over to a family member's house to show their kids and their dad smugly showed me that he could stream it. These discs turned out to be much higher clarity that the stream and you will always have it to watch when you want to without having to rely on it being available on a streaming service.

This transfer of the show to bluray looks and sounds gorgeous. It's presented in its native 4:3 aspect ratio (as it should be), so if your equipment isn't smart enough, but sure to switch the TVs aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 to avoid distortion. Content wise, it's a brilliant, creative show, layered with entertainment for kids and adults alike. Apart from a few rough spots, the show has held up surprisingly well after all these years. I watch it with two toddlers and they LOVE it. The show was WAY ahead of its time and this box set ensures you get to watch it whenever you want.

Classic show, great product and price

Pee-wee's Playhouse: The Complete Series is completely remastered and presented on Blue-ray. It includes all 45 episodes, features and interviews with cast and crew. I thought the show was amazing when I was a child but now I'm presenting it to my kids and they love it. My 17 year old was as excited for it arrive as I was and my 3 year old doesn't want to watch anything else. Its singlehandedly taken down PBS, Sprout and Nick Jr for his viewing time. Everything is perfect about this set down to the most amazing, durable and colorful disc cases that I've ever seen. If you're a Pee-Wee fan, have children or are just looking for a great television cult classic that has no peers, I highly recommend this set. There is nothing else that could be improved. Great job, Pee-Wee!!

This set is great and I think the price point is very reasonable. The image quality for being a children's television series filmed in the 1980s is unbelievable, and there are plenty of extras that will show you exactly how they painstakingly created this blu-ray edition, as well how the show was conceived and brought to life along with cast and crew interviews. There is a noticeable lack of commentaries on this set as I think everyone would have enjoyed more of Paul Reubens' perspective.There is one episode that does contain commentary which is the holiday special, and I believe it is the same as was included on the original stand alone DVD of that episode. This is still a great set and anyone who chooses not to add it to their collection is missing out on something awesome.

I grew up watching Pee Wee when I was a kid and now my kids watch it. Theres a lot of adult humor I see now that I never noticed as a child. It's definitely a one of a kind show that I'd recommend to anyone who's never seen it.

This was a last minute Christmas present for my grandson. My daughter was upset that it was taken off Netflix as it is one of his favorite shows. I watched PeeWee's Playhouse when it was new in the 80's. My daughter loved it and had it on VHS and now her son is carrying on the tradition with it on DVD,

It may be on Netflix. It's probably free streaming else where. But Shout factory doesn't disappoint with this release of Pee Wee's Playhouse.The extras are the big reason I purchased this set, which go extensively into the production of the show with production footage, backstage photos and interviews with crew and cast members in a couple hours long making-of features. Although absent is Paul Reubens himself, you'll still hear amazing stories like Laurence Fishburne recalling how people would go partying Friday night and then go home to watch Pee Wee's Playhouse Saturday morning . It should also be noted that Pee Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special is included with this set, which is a major bonus in itself for me having watched the special every year on Christmas since we got the vhs.I am still curious as to how the Shout Factory dvd version of this release compares to the bluray version, but I opted for the bluray's higher resolution and higher quality video compression, and I'm glad I did as the level of detail that went into the show's design is astounding and will have you beaming like a kid again, starring at the tv screen.

LOVE this show....reminded me...how great my childhood was....my childhood never looked so good either...
