In the later spring and early summer the eastern morning sun hits the garage safety sensors making it impossible to close the door. If my wife was with me I could hold a piece of cardboard as a sun block.Installed this simple device and it works

These work well, though there are still some super sunny days when the garage door still won't close. Seems to work 99% of the time.

Wish it could slide as this worked for a while, but when the sun angle changes it no longer works. Good idea though!

I had been frustrated for years, not understanding how to get around the problem presented during peak daylight whereas my garage door wouldn’t close normally due to disruption from sunlight. This simple product quickly solved the problem. I only wish I was aware of it years ago

Ok, that sounds a bit excessive (& dramatic) but these were sent straight from the "Garage Gods" if you ask me. II was shocked tp see that such a gadget existed. But i was very thankful to come across them bc we have been having trouble closing garage door when sun is shining on the "eye" of the opener.We actually had to stop using the door & just figured we would be stuck waiting til the seasons changed until we could start using the garage door again in the middle of the day.You will likely have to finagle them a bit until you find the right spot to where they block the sun completely so don't throw in the towel if you try them & they don't work for you at first.Try making the adjustments a little at a time.We are VERY SATISFIED with this product.

This particular set did not fit over my two garage door sensors because the openings were too small. However, I do feel like with some manual adjustment, it would fit. It is a well built set and looks sturdy. Something like this is extremely easy to install. The reason why a sun shield is an absolutely essential item for your garage door sensors is because my garage door repairman stated that persistent sun exposure into the sensor eventually damages the sensor to the point where it cannot function properly and it needs to be replaced. It really depends on the angle of the sun during the day and the position of your house in relation to the sun, but if there is a direct angle from the sun into the sensor, you really need to have two of these covers for your two sensors.
