Takamine CTP-2 Cool Tube 2 Preamp

This is my third Cool Tube Preamp. I have the original version and two of the CTP-2 s. These preamps warm the signal of the guitar as well as add a bit of resonance to the overall sound. The tuner is wonderful to have, easy to read with two setting; one which allows the guitar to sound as you tune, and one which mutes the guitar signal as you tune. My only complaint is that the volume fader is not as smooth as I would like. It is a bit "jagged" when trying to raise or lower the volume as you are playing. One of my preamps is a little smoother than the other..but both could be improved for a $300.00 preamp.

This product is listed on the Takamine website as one of their newest preamps. I ordered this part and it was shipped promptly. So no issues there. However, the usual assembly parts for installation were not in the package. In fact, there was nothing. Just the preamp. Normally, a preamp like this is sold with a guide box or the container that it is mounted to the guitar with. There were no instructions or technical manuals with this component either. Not even a suggested parts list to put a person on the right path towards obtaining the necessary parts to complete it's installation properly. This item literally comes with nothing. I can understand the cabling to some degree, however, to absolutely provide nothing at all is really pathetic. In short, the preamp arrived, but without any means whatsoever to install it. There are no manuals that would typically provide instructions for maintenance or basic operations. As a minimum this kind of information should be posted on the site BEFORE the purchase. That is not too much to ask for. So my word of advice if you own a Takamine and want to purchase this item is simple. First make sure you check the preamp with the Takamine guitar BEFORE you make this purchase. It is important to not only check the model number but the serial number too as there have been changes made to some models over the years. The serial numbers will help you identify when these changes were made, if any. If you don't and are mistaken, this item purchase will most likely be a waste unless you don't mind extensive modifications to your guitar. Also, make sure you have manuals BEFORE you make this purchase. It will not be provided.

This is replacing a Cool Tube that went bad during a gig which soured me a little, but the sound is great out of these so I bought another. The problem I had was with the model more than the performance. Works as advertised but it was not a new Rev 6 model as stated in the Having said that it is in the guitar & working. I have to use the guitar.

It is just what it says it is! Very rare indeed. It fit perfectly in my Santa Fe cut away. I love it!👍🏽

The service's provided by Amazon in expediting this product and the updates of the product being sent gained my faith in doing business with Amazon. The original cool tube had corroded and the new preamp arrived on time with easy removal and replacement instructions. Now my guitar sings sweetly again. Thankyou very much,
