Effective, well made
Does its job well on a gas hob. Was always a bit awkward resting my moka pot on the hob - with it having to see only half-over the burner unless it was being manually held in position. This not only solves that problem, but gives me the option of using the pot on one of the larger diameter burners, which would've been otherwise impossible. There's two drawbacks to it - firstly, you're heating a decent chunk of metal up in order to heat something else up. This does mean it isn't as responsive as just gas alone. There's a (very small) amount of "warm up" time to it that can add maybe half-a-minutes delay before you're getting the full heating effect; and if you're turning the heat down on a burner, it's going to take a while for the built-up heat to dissipate and thus pass the correct amount of heating onto the cooking vessel on top of it. This would be less pronounced with the small sized diffuser (I went for the larger diameter one for flexibility). In my case, being able to use a larger burner with my moka pot made up the difference in lost time - and I can imagine it being more efficient in some circumstances where the large diameter catches more of the flame from the burner, potentially benefitting from heat that would otherwise be lost off to the sides of a moka pot.Secondly, the handle is a bit too close to the platter - even though the plastic handle was well away from the burners, the near-end still got warm. Fortunately, the plastic isn't very conductive, so the rest of the handle (away from the source of the heat) was absolutely fine, just like a regular saucepan. So a minor issue that doesn't really effect its functionality. But aside from that it's a nice useful well-made tool. Functional, neatly presented, sturdy.

Great device for even cooking and stopping small pots and pans from tilting on gas hobs
I ordered this plate diffuser to use on my gas hob to keep my coffeepot warm but also because one of the rings has uneven heating and I was hoping that this would balance that. It's very easy to use and they stress not to use it on the hob without anything on it, although you can also use it, presumably when the hob isn't on, to defrost meat more quickly.I love the idea of it as it's safer than trying to balance a coffeepot (Moka or similar) on my range's gas hob. I also have a small frying pan which kept tipping but this fantastic plate diffuser elimited that risk and the pan stayed put.One slight negative is that diffusing the heat, whilst cooking more evenly, does mean it's not as hot and it takes a little longer to cook, especially scrambled eggs/omelettes but they cook more evenly as a result.4* – It's a great device for more even, safer cooking, especially with small pans, and for stopping coffeepots from tilting. I wish I could award it 4.5*, a slight deduction because it takes a little longer to cook with the heat spread BUT that does mean all the food is cooked at the same time. It also protects the base of pots and pans from being burnt which will extend their life. Everyone needs one

A necessary evil. Does what its says, but just buy a set of induction pots and pans instead
I have an induction stove (which is great) and some pans do not work on it as they do not have a ferrous base material to induce heat into, hence the diffuser plates are necessary to make them work.I've got 4 already, which we refer to as the starship enterprise, since they look the same as the NCC-1701. The problem with these units is that they are slow because of how they work.Generally these are a compromise since they take a fancy new induction hob, an incompatible non-inductive saucepan from your last house, you stick it on a plate such as this one, the cooker heats the induction plate and the plate inefficiently heats the saucepan and the saucepan heats the food and everyone is happy eventually. The Chef though will be unhappy as everything is just too slow. These items are no good for things such as Wok's and other similar high heat cooking pots and pans. The problem with these adapters is that they are very slow to put heat into what you are cooking as its all got to go via all the intermediate things first, which slows things down, they also loose heat, which means that your pan is never as hot as an ordinary induction compatible pan.If you compare this to an induction compatible pan, its simple, you put the induction pan on the hob, place the food you want to cook in it, hit the button and in seconds its cooking. You also need to consider once you have finished cooking, With a saucepan, you simply wash it it and you are done. With one of these items, you now have a really hot chunk of metal that also needs cooling, cleaning up, and storing somewhere. My advice is therefore to avoid these adapters and just go and buy a decent set of induction hob compatible stainless steel pans (such as ProCook) and save a lot of time, money, frustration and space in your kitchen. Now, having said all of that, I tested this item and unsurprisingly it works exactly the same as all the other ones I've got, these units do seem to heat up a bit quicker than the other ones I have.

Little helper
This has been an absolute great item to have in my kitchen, especially because i have a lot of small coolwear that doesn't fit well on stove top, as well as me having an inbuilt cooker that doesn't seem leved. This has been so good for using small items ontop of, as well as for better heat distribution. Nice, slim and lightweight so fits in cupboards well and is easy to use
