Really good
Screen could be a bit brighter but other than that this is perfect. Very stylish, startup time is quick.

A Great Laptop at the Wrong Time.
With the current climate of Huawei it would be the worst time to buy a Matebook of any variety. So thats exactly what i did.Hours before the big reveal of companies dropping Huawei support like a stone off a cliff; i took delivery of my Matebook X 13". Now the future support of this device along with other Huawei services are now in question. So one can imagine im less than pleased with this outcome, going with my matching Huawei phone, tablet and watch. I would say at this point its just not worth buying this laptop. Hence my rating of 3 stars out of 5. But! if in the future this situation is resolved, i will continue with my review. From a totally hardware point of view, this machine is excellent. The box it came in was of a high quality, i can see this surviving even the worst that DPD has to offer. When you open it up the Matebook X lifts itself out of the box ever so slightly as if being presented to you.The external shell of the device is a beautifully finished metal affair. with not a screw head or panel gap in sight. the tolerances Huawei hold is comparable and surpasses any more common laptop brands. If you want a premium build quality, this is the pinnacle of how a laptop can feel. The screen is both the high and low point of this device for me. the Resolution is nice and high, (2160/1440). the colours are good, nothing too amazing but its totally usable, however i do think its a touch dimmer than other screens i have used. up against something like an Ipad pro i keep finding myself reaching for the brightness key only to find i already have it turned all the way up. However what makes up for this is the Aspect ratio. This screen is actually a touch taller than your standard laptop screen. it only sits about as wide as a typical 12 inch laptop. but its about as tall as a 15.6 inch laptop. that vertical space is amazing for word documents or browsing pages with lots of vertical content (such as articles of Huawei going down the tubes)The keyboard is perfectly fine, the deck is nice and solid with no flex. the backlight is really handy to have. Maybe a bit less travel in the keys to other laptops i have tested but i could easily use this keyboard for hours and not have any problems.Battery life is good, i get abour 4-5 hours of constant use out of it between charges. However i have been spoiled for the last year as my daily driver has been a Chromebook Flip that not only sips on battery to last all day, but also takes advantage of USB-c Quickcharge.A Fingerprint scanner, SSD. USB-c dongle and a nice and portable charger are all really nice touches that just help the user experience. It even has a headphone jack.To sum up. Its a really solid laptop, there is nothing horribly wrong with it and no dealbreakers. If it wasn't for the current political climate of Huawei id tell you to get one if you were thinking about it, but as it stands, id say play it by ear.

Charging failed
At first the computer seemed to work fine but after a couple of days the charger stopped working entirely. Just had enough battery to delete most of the settings/downloads to return the item. Have just received a replacement and same thing happened after the second day. Needless to say, won't be trying a Huawei again!

SUPERB Screen
Only drawback is the slightly abbreviated keyboard

Terrible price to performance ratio, look at something else
You must be barking mad to buy this junk. I accidentally saw it during Prime Day and as a computer enthusiast, I couldn't afford to not talk about how ridiculous this price is for these terrible specs and to try to stop at least one poor soul from buying this.1) CPU - a 2.6GHz dual core for £914? And that's a sale, not even the full price? What a rip-off. And I bet the CPU is an old generation, because the RAM is DDR3.2) RAM - DDR3? Get with the times. Look for DDR4. I'm still struggling to find out why the full price is £1200 and the discounted price is £914. This definitely isn't it.3) SSD - I'm glad they put an SSD as standard in a laptop instead of having to shell out additional money for an SSD then throw away a perfectly good hard drive. This is good, but the SSD is too small for most people. I wish they'd put at least 512GB.4) Screen - what's the point of this high resolution on a small 13'' screen? This is pointless and money down the drain. I guess this is why the laptop costs so much even with its terrible specs. If the screen were bigger, the resolution would be nice but at this size whether it's 1080p or 1440p doesn't make too much difference.5) GPU (Graphics / video card) - None mentioned, so I'm assuming it is driven by the CPU's integrated graphics. In other words, you won't be playing games on this thing or really anything that requires more graphics power than Netflix. Which makes the bigger resolution screen even more pointless.
