Berghaus Men's Deluge Pro Waterproof Shell Jacket

It is waterproof, it is not insulated
As Sarge always told you, layers are the key. This does the waterproof bit very well (and having outsize arms, trunk and head the large hood, long cut and long sleeves are much appreciated). And it is even waterproof when cycling (which in my experience most 'waterproofs' are not). But you will need additional layers for warmth.

Go for a size larger than you think
Really lightweight and waterproof, this is a great jacket!I'd advise going one size larger than you think you'll need, especially if you'll be wearing several layers underneath. One niggle is that if you've zipped it all the way to the top, you can't then put the hood up without first unzipping it a bit. However, on the plus side, when the hood is up and the coat is zipped all the way up, the hood is going to stay up and not get blown down!

Lightweight but waterproof
The jacket is very light weight and less substantial than I was expecting. Length wise a good fit for me but the arm length seems slightly long. However this is not a problem as it has good Velcro straps at the ends of the arms to ensure water tightness. Had 2 wears out in the rain and it is showing good waterproofing so far.

Great raincoat.
Overall an excellent jacket and I'm now looking for a hoodless version! Was on the lookout for a genuinely waterproof jacket for work. I'm working in a very hands-on role, outside, and didn't want to spend a fortune due to likely rips.I picked this Deluge Pro 2 up at an offer around the £50 Mark which I'd decided as an upper budget for work. Arrived quickly and upon unwrapping I was surprised at how little there was to it. Didn't seem a lot of coat for £50. I tried it on and was pleased with how snugly the jacket fitted, my chest measures 43" relaxed and I'd ordered a Large. During the autumn I've been wearing a Tog24 Appleby fleece with a T-shirt under it and been comfortable with warmth and movement also reasonably breathable under normal use.The jacket material (single layer) is actually quite durable. I've had a couple of occasions where I've snagged on a rough surface and upon warily inspecting the jacket found no damage. However the inevitable happened and I did rip it on the arm. Again I was impressed that the rip didn't run for the few days I was waiting for my repair kit to arrive, still wearing it daily for work.I didn't really want a hood but bit the bullet with this as I was struggling to find the ideal jacket within my budget. Also, this was for work and I wasn't too concerned about making a fashion statement. However thd hood actually works well and some thought has been put into its design.Would I pay full price for it? No. Too expensive for work and I wouldn't have a hood for normal use.

Jacket
Lightweight and easily fits in your bag. Really handy and worth the money.

A bit expensive for what it is
It keeps the rain out but as expected from a bit of welded plastic, it is a boil in the bag experience if you start to heat up.I got it when it was priced less than the normal retail amount, which I thought was a hefty overprice for what it is.

Poor quality from Berghaus
I've always known Berghaus to be a good manufacturer of outerwear and have had several items from them, all to my satisfaction, however this jacket is not fit to bear the name. Due to poor design and/or poor quality standards during manufacture, the zipper keeps getting caught on the inner selvedge. This happens in both directions so you'll find yourself getting pee wet through when trying to put it on when rain starts, then find yourself trapped in the jacket when trying to take it off. My advice? Buy something else.

Waterproof
This is one of the best jackets I own out of a collection of about 60.Fully waterproof, breathable and looks smart.Makes my Barbour a second choice if it's warm but wet outside.

There is no Gore-Tex. The title is lie.
The title says that it should have Gore-Tex but it does not.
