Make sure you have a support handy!
I ordered this balance board after listening again to the late (and missed) Dr Michael Mosley's 'Just One Thing' on balance, where he talks about how our balance is getting worse with each generation, and how regularly making ourself wobble could help improve our body and brain. That episode is called 'Stand On One Leg' and well worth a listen! For context, I've never used anything like this before; I was hopeless at surfing and rollerskating but could ice-skate and I ride a bike; and although generally my balance is pretty good, the 'balance-on-on-leg-with-eyes-closed' thing is, quite literally, my downfall - I can't manage more than a very few seconds. So I could definitely use some balance training! So: basics: this board is strongly made of plastic. As shown in the pictures, it has small circular bosses moulded into it which make it a little knobbly for bare feet, but which seem to help keep your feet on the board and increase their sensitivity to movement. The hemispherical base of it is smooth, and slips a bit on very smooth surfaces, although it was ine on a cushioned vinyl floor and on carpet. In use: I strongly suggest that for people like me new to these boards, they should try it where there is someone or something handy to grab on to while you find (and when you lose) your balance. I found the best place to start was a doorway, where I could use the frame for support. At first I thought I was never going to be able to even get on to the board, let alone balance on it; but it was surprisingly quick to find my feet. It's very wobbly, but like any new challenge requiring physical skill, will take time and practice. It's not easy to start with, but even over the couple of days I've been using it I can sense an improvement, so I will persevere no matter how ridiculous I feel. I'd recommend this, but please make sure you have some supports and a soft landing!

Core strength training through balance made easy...
There are hundreds of references in fitness guides to maintaining healthy core strength by focusing on balance/ equilibrium. Whether it be from simply standing on one leg to put your sock/ shoe on (and then alternating) to more complex and strenuous balance techniques such as holding a see-saw whilst planking, there is great gains to be had.Myself, being over 50 and a desk jockey for 10+ hours each day, my posture and core strength is awful. Similarly though, my 12 year old daughter who has very mild CP that affects her right side has core strength issues too. This board replaces a very cheap store bought item, and it really is a huge difference. This board is firmer, the base is more curved/ raised so can be used on carpets, and the overall quality is excellent. In use, it's not only much safer than anticipated, but is also versatile and solid even on carpets. My daughter and I are spending 5-10 mins per-day on 'challenges', and we are already seeing gains and improvements in terms of how long we are maintaining balance. There are no instructions as such, but you can be quite creative in terms of how the product is used. Bearing in mind, balance requires a huge set of muscles in very small proportions, so little but often works wonders... and the stronger your core becomes, the better the balance - so your gains can be tracked and then goals adjusted accordingly.Very good quality, fit for purpose, thumbs-up.

This balance board from PowrX is pretty good in my opinion however
As someone who used to be prone to ankle sprains and even ligament damage I know first hand from various forms of physio of the benefits of balance to strengthening muscles and ligaments in the ankle and lower legs. This balance board from PowrX is pretty good in my opinion however I have felt some flex in it when I lose my balance and it tips. I weigh 95kgs so if you weight the same or more this may be something you might want to consider.

A Perfect Blend of Comic Relief & Fabulous Workout 😊
When I first saw this, I didn’t expect much from it. I couldn’t see how standing on this and trying to balance could truly be any type of workout, or take my workout up a level. I was wrong, in more ways than one. Not only does this take my workout up a notch, but it taught me that balancing may not be my strong suit 🤣.One of the things that I liked the most about this disk is that it feels like a workout on its own. I practiced balancing on it while watching tv, no other type of workout, just balancing. My legs and butt were on fire. I could actually feel the muscles working, so I can definitely see how this will raise the level of a workout session. This a good workout tool, with a fun bonus; it also provides a nice bit of comic relief. It is rather amusing watching someone (especially me) trying to balance on this. My partner tried it as well, and laughter quickly ensued 😂🤣.

Effective for Balance Training
This product has been a helpful addition to my home workouts, particularly for improving core strength and balance. It’s compact and easy to store, which is convenient for small spaces. While it does take some getting used to, once I got the hang of it, I could feel the difference in my stability during other exercises. The surface grip is decent, though I wish it were a bit more textured for extra security during use. Overall, it’s a useful tool for anyone looking to incorporate balance training into their routine, but it's not without minor drawbacks.

Doesn't come with any exercise suggestions
The wobble board came in a plain cardboard box with a sticker on it. I was expecting some kind of instructional leaflet inside to give me an idea of what exercises I can do on the board to improve my balance and core strength but the only thing in the box was the wobble board itself. I've searched online for videos to help me but they seem very limited for this particular type of hard wobble board. I have no doubt that this is great for it's intended use but I would really have liked some guidelines included for those of us who aren't experts in the gym.
