With the Hardman series, Ralph Dennis gives us short, gritty, crime fiction that you can sink your teeth into. Jim Hardman and Hump Evans do odd jobs under the table. They are not even the poor underpaid private eyes in a rundown office on the bad side of town.What makes it work is that they are just two regular guys who tend to spend their days hanging out in bars or planning what to throw on the barbecue. Although ex football 🏈 player Hump is worth a couple of guys in a brawl, Hardman and Hump take their lumps and get knocked down.The writing is stark, lean, crisp. There is no attempt to intellectualize or solve the world’s problems.This, the next to last book in the series, has our fearless duo caught in the crossfire between warring syndicates who want to run Atlanta’s seedy underbelly. They don’t have a stake in the fight, but are trapped in a box and can’t get free.

I have read all of the Hard man series and enjoyed every one of them if anymore of them found I will read them too
