An innovative, top quality product
Wonderful! This is a must have for Apple fans. So cool to be able to increase one outlet to five. The iphone etc. can be charged by plugging in to the usb port on the end of Belkin usb port without additional adapter. The apple IPAD will not charge unless you have the exact charger from apple and then plug it into the 120volt outlet.. The gadget from Belkin is an adapter that puts out 5volts dc from the usb port. So you just take your cord with USB connector on one end and apple connector on other end and plug in any Apple products other than Ipad. Apple did this intentionally so you would need to buy their adapter for Ipad only.. Now you have three electrical receptacles and two charging points. The really great part is that this is a surge protector to protect your plugged in equipment. I have a back door alarm that needs to be plugged in all the time. Everytime I wanted to plug in my Apple stuff, the door alarm was getting unplugged. When I saw this Belkin gadget on Amazon, I knew that this was one of those things in life I could not live without. When I first opened the box and held this in my hand I could see the high quality, and innovativeness that went in to this. It is a shame that in the last 20 years the United States has allowed a transfer of wealth, productivity, creativity and industry to China. They now own the days and nights of America. They produce everything we need, they lend us money, they smile all the time, building the largest military the world has ever seen. America is being taken over without ever firing a shot. When your Belkin Mini arrives, take a minute and look at it. The workers in China are too damn good. They are doing everyday what our people are no longer willing and able to do. We're fat, happy and useless. We write great reviews and we complain a lot. What was the last product you purchased that was made in America. Even our books are published over there. All the Apple products are made outside this country. Even movies are mostly being made outside the borders. We have an immigration problem and they aren't Mexicans they are Chinese. When you walk by your beautiful Belkin plugged in to all your equipment made in China take a minute, and think about the future. When did we lose our direction and our souls to foreign soil.

A trusted brand. Possible to use in both sockets.
Good features include: โReputable long-standing brand. I recently lost an expensive piece of medical equipment to a surge that a cheap โsurge protectorโ produced all on its own. Those UL/ETL listing should be a bare minimum requirement for products to be sold here! โCan be used in outlets that lack middle screw for stabilization โCan use two of them stacked and pointing in different directions (see photo) even if the plugs youโre inserting are extra large. โ918 Joules per 3 AC outlets (really 2, in terms of usabilityโsee cons) is not at all a shabby amount of protection. Generally speaking, the only times when youโd need more protection than that per outlet are for huge appliances that must have their own dedicated outlet anyhow. โWhen used in a stacked fashion, youโre putting a lot less electrical load strain on each of your wall sockets than you would if using a single wall-mounted surge protector with six AC plugs. This is because the single unit surge protectors that cover both sockets in a wall outlet only plug into one of those sockets, putting all the electrical load on one socket. This strain could endanger more sensitive or energy-sapping equipment, which you can now divide up between both sockets. โThe rotating plug feature is assisted both by a button that must be pushed while rotating (locking it into one position so that it doesnโt flop around) and by a plastic removable turn key covering the plug that makes the plug easier to grasp. Quality details. โUSB charging stations on the sides are useful for so many things today. I usually have one or both occupied overnight when the AC sockets are not in active use. โHas light that indicates if protection is working. Iโve had one of these for years that continues to work. โWould be a good travel surge protector in the states. Cons: โEach of these can only take two AC plugs unless theyโre *super* compact. โWill jiggle some when removing plugs and may need to be pushed flush again. โA really heavy plug should only go into the socket that is directly aligned with the wall outlet, not in the dangling extremity. Yet, as you can see in the photos, the extremities can take rather substantial plugs, just not exceptionally heavy ones. โThese are not pretty compared to surge protectors whose symmetry mimics the outlet. โThe cons are so small and the pros so big compared to other surge protection solutions that Iโve tried that I wonโt be knocking off stars for the cons. I just purchased another and may return for more.

Just what I was looking for....
I was skeptical of this product. I have purchased other such USB chargers in the past and they have not charged my Iphone, Ipod or Touch. I decided to give this one a try because of the great reviews and the reasonable price. I also liked how it wasn't just a USB charger but also a surge protector. This product works great! It has 3 AC outlets and 2 powered USB ports. I really like that all ports are surge protected. To me this was a bonus! I also really like that there is not just one but two USB ports so that I can charge more than one device at the same time. The only negative thing I can say about it is that it is a little bulky if you will be plugging it in behind a piece of furniture (like a night stand or desk). I purchased one for my daughter's room and I had to pull her night stand out quite a bit from the wall in order for it to fit into the wall outlet and allow enough room to plug the cords into the surge protector. However, it is small enough to toss into a laptop bag. Overall: I would recommend this product. The price is reasonable and it acutally works. Classifying it as "mini" can be debated. Don't you hate when you are at the airport, and didn't fully charge your phone/laptop the night before and both outlets are being used? Well, this is the item for you. Belkin has made a wonderful surge protector with 3 outlets and 2 USB ports to fix this problem. The build quality on this is great. Some people may call it bulky, but the bulkiness is the trade-off for the surge protection which is a great feature. The plug is very solid, and I don't foresee it breaking off from continued use. The outlet swivels 360 degrees to accommodate the use of the other outlet. The USB port charges at 500mA per port which will charge most USB devices (my Galaxy Tab won't charge through the USB). It would be nice if both ports charged at 1000mA though. Overall, the device is great. It is built solidly. The bulkiness can be easily over looked for the added feature of the surge protection. For the price point, this is a 5 star. This product could be in the $40-50 range and still be a great value.

I have applied for a return for one month, I have already agreed, I have made a few phone calls to confirm it, and I have mailed it, so I am in trouble.

I love this surge protector. It has served me well as I travel bi-weekly between Brasil and Canada. This surge protector has been a godsend. The only thing I needed to do was buy an adaptor in Brasil to convert to the conventional three-pronged North American style plug. It works even with 220V, no problem as well (just confirm what your plugging in is rated for 220V). The swivel function is a great idea; however, I believe the implementation could be improved in the feature as it wears out over time. But no problem I have used it frequently for three years now. I would recommend this surge protector as I don't see an alternative in the market.

I've been searching for a product that can extend the outlet on my bathroom for the electrical products that I use. I finally came across this Belkin mini surge protector and features: - 3 AC power outlets - 2 USB outlets ONLY for charging (not data transfer) at 5V / 500mA at each port - Surge protection on all 5 outlets - 918 Joules Energy Dissipation - 125V / 15A / 1,875W Continuous Duty Electrical Rating - 36,000A Maximum Spike Current - Lifetime Warranty on product - USD75,0000.00 connected equipment warranty - 360 degree rotating plug lockable into 4 possible positions Simple, elegant design in a smooth plastic casing of white and light grey colour. Once plugged, the green LED light will indicate if the power source is grounded. The box comes with one USB to mini-USB cable to get you started in charging your USB devices as well. DO NOT throw the prong cover that initially comes attached to the surge protector prong. As the manual states (for those who still care to read the User Manual these days), you can use this plastic prong cover to help further balance the device against any surface. You do this by inserting the plastic prong cover on the bottom of the surge device via a small notch. Also, the plastic cover is handy to use when traveling. Before dumping the surge protector along with your other devices, cover the prongs to prevent it from scratching other objects. The prongs can be rotated 360 degrees loosely. However, there are 4 positions that enable you to lock it so it doesn't flail along clumsily in any direction. You do this by pressing into the rear a "release button". It's not a raised button, but a flat plastic portion that you have to press hard in order to release the lock. It's quite difficult (at least with the model I received) at first and feels like I'm going to break the plastic button. But I guess if this is normal then it can be construed as a safety measure so it doesn't easily rotate with a simple touch. IMPROVEMENTS: The term "mini" is subjective. It isn't really that compact as I would assume from seeing the photo. It is small, yes. However, as a surge protector that can take 3 AC and 2 USB outlets, I will give Belkin the benefit of naming it a mini device. I would STRONGLY prefer the re-design of the spacing on the AC outlets by allowing larger plugs connected side-by-side. As it is right now, only normal AC plugs and not block-style plugs are allowed without loosing all three outlets. So my proposal is to delete the middle AC outlet and move it to the end-cap of the device (opposite to the 2 USB outlets). As of now, there is nothing there so rather than cramp the 3 AC plugs, then move the third at the end and thus allowing for block-style plugs to be used and still retaining the 3 AC functionality. OVERALL: I would not hesitate to recommend the purchase of this surge protection for compact spaces as well as travel purposes especially with the lifetime warranty and amount of protection is offers. Other brick-style retail stores are ridiculously selling this at double the price Amazon is currently selling it at. Only a store with the initials of HD is selling it at below what Amazon is offering it. If you live beside that store, go ahead and drop by for it. Otherwise if it's not urgent to get the device and with the current free shipping of Amazon, just purchase it alongside other items and save on fuel.

I've had this for a few years now. I use it beside my bed for charging my devices. Pros: - lots of ports. 2x USB and 3x power - rotates to fit almost any setting Cons: - Can't charge 2 iPhones at once. If 2 iPhones are plugged in, it will charge the first one that was plugged in. I've noticed that sometimes it will randomly switch between charging each phone that is plugged in. It can, however, charge 1 iPhone and 1 other non-phone device (i.e. an iPhone and a bluetooth headset). - Can't charge my iPad 3 at all (alone or with another device). - It's a little wobbly, especially when plugging things into the power ports or usb ports. It comes with a little stabilizing piece of plastic that attaches to the bottom of the powerbar, but it's almost useless. Overall, it's an ok mini surge protector, but combined with the fact that it can't charge two iPhones at once and can't charge an iPad 3 at all, I cannot recommend this. If you only have one phone and some peripherals, then its ok.
