It gets easier to use after a couple of tries. Obviously, its similar to a compact umbrella. It opens easily after determining the position of the sun visor slot and the angle of the handle. Retracting has the added step of gathering and folding up the outer portions. I've only used it for a week or two but it definitely keeps the temperature of the cab reasonably cooler than before. It will also help with less drying out of the interior plastics. So much easier to store than the one with the double ring type That I had before that was impossible to twist into a storeable shape.

Pain in the butt to open in the car and doesn’t even fit! Flimsy and is a struggle to put away! Right side does not open and one of the arms was broken when taken out of the box.

I have a Subaru Outback which heats up fast in summer heat. I have used the compressed circular popout sunscreens on my car before this, and this sunshade umbrella seems to be made of the same degree weight of sunscreen material. I expect it will keep out the sun the same as the previous ones, except now it is seconds to open and close an umbrella, rather than the minutes to remember how to fold it back to little circles. It is still hot in the car, especially on those 100 degrees days, but not as hot as without it. The sunscreen makes it bearable until the air conditioner gets going. I have found my better more insulated accordion screen took up passenger space, so this is the compromise.

I'm using this on my Dodge Magnum which has a huge windshield. It works great. It covers the entire front window which protects the dash. I love that it folds down small very much like an umbrella and then just slides right under my seat. Really nice sunshade!
