Love it!
One of my major concerns was whether or not the bars would be small enough to prevent my small Yorkie from being able to pass thru them. She is unable to fit thru...perfect! This gate is such high quality wood and it's such a pretty gate. It actually matches my dining room table and kitchen cabinets perfectly which wasn't intentional! I am 5ft 8in tall and this gate reaches my hip bone. I know it's strange that I needed such a tall gate for such a tiny dog but most of the gates online were only 20 inches tall and my Yorkie has strong hind legs so I really thought that with her being relentless, if she really wanted out, she could leap that. I found this gate more expensive on other websites but decided to check Amazon and it was listed here a little cheaper because the shipping fees on the other site were ridiculously high! It didn't need much assembling at all and only took a minute or so to put together by sliding the pieces into their grooves.UPDATE: If you have a dog that suffers from separation anxiety, this may not be the gate for you. This gate actually caused my dog to suffer separation anxiety which had never happened before. Any stressors, such has cordening the dog off after never doing this before, can cause a change in the dogs behavior which I learned the hard way. My tiny little Yorkie was able to chew thru one of the bars nearly getting free. If you think this can happe in your situation or if your dog is already a chewer, you might want to invest in the gates designed with the metal bars. Otherwise, this gate is perfect! I now use the gate to simply block the sofa (partially).

Good if your pet respects boundaries
Sturdy enough against a wiley 40lb lab mix puppy. The puppy also wants to share that the wood tastes delicious :(Update- I probably should have trusted the reviews more.. the gate is now practically unusable as the puppy somehow broke both knobs/screws and the "track" that allows the gate to expand doesn't hold the sliding parts together very well.. not sure if it's from wear and tear of expanding and shrinking the gate every day or if it's from the abuse the puppy put it through. It's definitely not built to hold back an ambitious animal. Would have been great if the puppy respected boundaries but as puppies do, they get curious and poke and chew on things.. it definitely did not hold up well considering the abuse it took. Next step for me- metal pressure mounted gate. This gate slid very easily on a wood floor when it was pushed. I am very sad because this gate did look gorgeous and now it will probably be next winter's fire wood.

Not entirely safe
We have an 8 week old lab, and we bought this because there will be times where we need her to be safe whilst we are doing something around the house and can't watch her. Looks-wise its really nice, although part of the wood is chipped off, but we decided to keep it as we really needed this asap. She escaped the first time we put her in there, and she is tiny, but she figured out how to move the side bar and sneek out. Really easily done. The only way to fix this is to figure out our own attachment to fix it to the wall. We chose it because of the length it pulls out to as we couldnt find any other that was this long/wide. Unless you are willing to figure out a way to fix it to the wall, then I wouldnt really recommend this. She didnt get out because she is so tiny, but because she simply moved the side bar.

Nice looking, descent quality
Probably deserves a 5, but we did have to re-glue one or two parts. But in fairness, this has held up to one great dane puppy and now a second one with little wear and tear to show for it. Easy to use and set up. Nice looking product and we have one between our kitchen and dining room and between the kitchen and living room. Easy to adjust with the knobs on top to adjust the width. Much preferred over units that require you to drill holes in the wall, so long as you can train your pets not to push on them. Both our great danes have gotten used to them and respect them as barriers. For a short while we would lean a chair against it to discourage them from pushing, now we don't use anything besides the gate and the dogs respect the boundary. Great product and we've tried multiple products before it that did drill into walls and we returned them all.....and had the joy of patching holes and painting afterwards.

Serves purpose, but finicky and difficult to assemble/disassemble
It works fine (keeps our 80 lb Lab at bay) and looks good when it is out, but do not believe the notes about it folding up nicely. The design is such that the 3 pieces set on top of each other, but only one of the fold out arms can sit flat, the other sticks out all the time making it awkward to store. The wooden guides are also extremely finicky. My wife is not strong enough to pull the pieces apart and reassemble them. I would rather see a notch in the front and have it be three pieces that do not need to come apart all the way every time you want to use it or break it down for storage.Overall, the product does what it needs to, but with a little imagination, I think it could be much better.

Beautiful yet Expensive
Type of dog: 21 pound dachshund/Jack RussellLikes: the look, the size, the ease of putting it together, my dog hasn't jumped over or knocked it over & he hasn't chewed it.Dislikes: quality, ease of opening the gate, the price.I've looked at several gates and this one is worth about $99 tops. Way over priced for what you get. I spend 2-3 minutes each time trying to open and close the gate. Not sure if it's this one or if all of them are this hard. The quality isn't great. One of the panels doesn't stay straight on it's own- it folds in. The reason I chose it was because it was a stand alone gate. I'm going to keep it for now because of the look... but I am definitely not satisfied for $170.

With adjustments, worked great
We have 2 small dogs and 1 medium. We also have 2 odd size (very long) openings that we wanted to close off. We purchased one and the first two times they figured out how to push the gate open; the third they pushed it out of the opening. But then my (engineer) husband thought to use a thin board like they use in sliding glass doors as security. We slide the gate to it's size and then push the board in and it fits the opening tightly. Our 3 haven't gotten through it since. We don't use the board when we have company as it makes the gate un-useable, but when we're there, it's not an issue.

It is as nice looking as expected
It is as nice looking as expected, but even though it opens to a wide distance there is only one hole to tighten screws in. When not at that exact width it is not sturdy and the panels almost fall off of each other.

I waste my money with this crap
The first day, my dog was able to open the gate with his nose. After fixing it with tie wraps, the dog finally climbed over the gate!Really disappointed!!

Overall a nice product and serves it purpose well however some latches to hold it together while moving it around would be a welcomed addition!
