Blegh
The pack of sixteen Chiko Surprise eggs arrived in good condition, well-sealed, and well within their best-by date of November 2024. They were so well-sealed that it was difficult for my kids to open them. Some we just had to cut with a pair of scissors. Each egg has a different Paw Patrol character on the outside, along with the Paw Patrol logo slapped on the bottom. Inside each egg, one half has the chocolate treat and the other half has a toy.Let’s begin with the edible side. It contains a semi-soft cocoa and cream paste, along with a few cocoa balls crammed on top. The cocoa balls are incredibly bland, even nearly tasteless. They add nothing to the flavor or experience at all. In stark contrast, the filling is inescapably sickly sweet. I couldn’t manage to finish it. On the plus side, each egg contains a little spoon to aid with eating.Over on the toy side, each half contains a small, ready-to-assemble packaged toy with flimsy parts, instructions, and a tattoo. Well, at least some do. I found several that had no instructions and just guessed how to assemble them (see pictured). The temporary tattoos were present and have Paw Patrol characters on them, although not all transferred very well. The listing says that these eggs have a Paw Patrol toy but, beyond the tattoo, there was nothing inside the egg Paw-Patrol themed. That said, I will confess that I am not steeped heavily in the Paw Patrol lore. However, and I could be wrong, I’m not sure a gun-wielding robot is on the regular rotation of the show’s characters (see pictured). The other toy was one without instructions and appeared to be some kind of vehicle with a giant P. Another was the same with a giant M.Overall, I’m going to be honest and say that I didn’t find a lot of redeeming qualities with this product. I suppose the marketing looks nice for Paw Patrol fans. An obvious comparison is going to be drawn here with the popular ‘chocolate eggs with toys inside’ brand and it’s important to know these are not those.

Similar enough, just not as polished, toy has nothing to do with paw patrol
In principal these are exactly like the leading brands of surprise eggs. The shape of the egg, the way they split apart to reveal the two halves, the little spoon it comes with, the type of chocolate, and the tiny toy you need to build. The execution of these ideas however isn't as well done. I'll start with prying the two halves apart. Rather than rely on pulling at the 2 tabs to separate you need to stick your finger in between once you get them open enough as it was absolutely impossible to do so otherwise. These are just too well attached to each other. I can't see this going well with little kids trying to get these open. The 2nd thing is the snack/chocolate portion of the egg. It has the same white and milk chocolate as the leading brand, but mixed in there are cocoa puff cereal pieces? Kind of strange. The taste was good though, being sweet, chocolatey and creamy. The leading brand has crispy ferrerro rocha type balls inside the chocolate. Lastly, the little toy inside came with zero instructions, and it was also made of a much cheaper plastic. Definitely not on par with the quality of the other brand. It did come with a paw patrol temp tattoo which is nice, but was the only tie to paw patrol. Overall I think it's good enough, especially for small children who don't know the difference and just likes the chocolate and seeing what the surprise is. It's definitely more budget friendly.

How to open...
Eating 16 of these has turned me into an expert at opening them. First off, let's be clear: these aren’t Faberge eggs. Hold the Cream Side with one hand and the Toy Side with your dominant hand, thumb near the seam where the halves are glued together, and squeeze/pinch hard to pop the seam open easily. Now, onto the next challenge: the tabs. If you can’t separate the protective plastic paper from the egg right away, bend the tab back and forth until it works loose - sometimes you might even have to use your teeth to really bend it. You know you’ve got it right when the paper starts to separate from the hard plastic egg shell. Then, peel. That’s all there is to it, folks. Now you can enjoy your coco puffs facsimile topped creamy sugar with the conveniently provided spoon (which you can also stab into the plastic where the weak spot is - some eggs have this, but not all) and your exquisitely molded toy car with a random letter. Just hope you get the letters you want to spell some fun words.

Not happy
I thought it would have paw patrol toys in it. It did not just some cheesy little toy.

Extra Average
I was planning to use these for a nice little Easter addition, but after trying them, I don't believe that will be the case. You get a decent quantity of the little eggs for what you pay for. But the problem starts when you try to open them. They're super hard to open. Once you do, one side is filled with a white and cocoa chocolatey cream with what seems to be cereal puffs on top. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't at all bad tasting, I just don't think my children will really enjoy them. I didn't think it was bad. They tasted more like a cross between chocolate icing and chocolate fudge. The other side contains a temporary tattoo and a tiny little toy that you have to assemble. That's okay too, but the parts are super tiny and I don't think my children are old enough to have toys/parts that small. That being said, they did seem to assemble well and made a little vehicle.Overall, I can't say they don't meet the description, but they're just not that good in my opinion and I would not order these again. However, I've never had other brand eggs like these, but I can't imagine them being way worse than other brands.
