Would you recommend this ,and to who ?
Nicely made and very well acted etc. But who is its audience ? Being a 15 , means it's too old for 11/12 year olds and thats who I think would like it , as the swearing in it would appeal to them . Overall it's ok and the sort of thing you could watch on a rainy day or with family at Christmas . My feelings toward it are a bit flat as its not great but then again its not terrible . If I had a favourite scene , it doesn't spring to mind after only one watch , and I'm not in any rush to watch it again , though I will when the Heavens open and I'm stuck indoors . Not having read any of the other reviews I don't know what other viewers think . Maybe you'll like it , maybe you wont . The best advice I could give is wait till its on TV , then watch it .š¤

comedy of the year?
The DVD arrived in good shape and the sound track is fine - the positive. In truth we are terribly disappointed. If this is the comedy of the year in the UK then I am sorry. Gone is the acute understanding of the human predicament and social situation of the time (1920), gone is the sharp and witty dialog, gone is the accurate detail of the time - this is a very modern film using a bit of period trapping and dress of the 1920ies - the presentation is 21st century and the dialog is a sprew of the 2020 vulgarity. Very sad if the famous British humour has really taken such a nose dive.
