I chose this book after browsing all of the books on Type II Diabetes that Amazon had to offer. It fulfilled what I was looking for, which was simplicity with a solid scientific backing. As Mr. Klibanov says, he didn't go searching for his data in other books on the same subject or You tube videos, but in scientific studies, primarily placebo controlled, double blind studies. He has taken all this information and distilled it down to a book you can read, as I did, in an evening, and come away with a better understanding of what is happening in your body and what you can do to change it for the better. This may not be the last book I buy on diabetes, depending on the progress I make, but I believe it will soon become a well thumbed reference. Thanks in part to the information I found and used in this book I am now, subject to quarterly review by my doctor, off my diabetes and cholesterol meds, and hoping to stay off them. This is due, primarily I believe, to my switch to a whole food, plant based diet. Changing your gut microbiome is a process; it takes some time, but the information in this book will help you understand what best to do and the scientific backing to help you understand what changes you need to make. It may also stimulate your curiosity, as it did mine, to do more research on what you should eat not just to reverse diabetes, but to improve your health overall.Recommended.

Immediate, Accessible, Hard Hitting Facts & Strategies
Igor lays out a very digestible guide to reversing Type II Diabetes. There's plenty of references to recent scientific data, and the author takes the time to explain the concepts behind the findings in the various studies, so that the reader is left with truly tangible information.I found the nutrition section especially useful as a personal trainer myself, since the fiber strategies don't only apply to Diabetic clients, but are also helpful for non-diabetic weight loss too. Using the examples of high fiber foods mentioned in the book, I have found that clients report feeling fuller for longer, and craving "cheat foods" less. As mentioned in the book, sometimes adding the right things to a diet is more plausible than removing any "wrong" things, or simply put achieving overall diet adherence beats crash dieting any day. This idea of adding helpful foods applies to both weight loss and to blood sugar reduction, which of course is the main topic of the book.Despite it's frequent references to studies, the advice that's offered and explanations behind them are extremely accessible to ordinary folks and the book isn't chalked down with jargon. I would recommend to any personal trainer with or without diabetics clients, and to people struggling with diabetes or those with a loved one who is a Type II diabetic.
