Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures: ASCE Standards ASCE/SEI 7-10

Exceptional source of design data. In one book is included most of the design variables required for a cost effective design.Naturally its not a panacea for all parameters, it should be used with discipline.It will be an integral part of my library, and I would recommend it for design engineers and final year structures 1 and 2.

This is a real page turner, as you are constantly having to refer to tables and specification in other chapters. The book covers the standard methods for calculating the loads that nature will apply to a structure through wind, snow, rain and earthquakes. Do not look for any examples or application guides within the volume. It is purely the specification and supporting material.

I'm a design engineer. I need the book. My older book is obsolete. There were notes penciled in that were useful. I have been designing buildings for 40 years. I can't believe people take this crap seriously.

Huge change for Wind load, and load combinations. Rest almost same as ASCE 7-05. Like some ASCE codes, there are several errata for this code. I personally do not like its commentary chapters, they are not well organized.

It is a typical ASCE design manual. Easy to read (if you're an engineer). Was easy enough for me to find the information I was looking for (not typical of some other design manuals). I needed it for 2 sentences and 2 lines in a table. Be careful though, your local building code may require an older version.

Getting tired of everybody wanting to reinvent the wheel. Every time we graduate a new PHD they think they have to give us their opinion. Lot of wasted motion going on here. If it's wrong, then fine fix it. But otherwise leave it alone and let us do our job efficiently.

Technical manuals are hard to love!! The manual is everything I thought it would be and is very helpful in establishing loading patterns

This was a great book however I rarely used it. I was to busy trying to keep it in good conditions since I had rented it. Plus my teacher wrote everything on the board we needed from this book. Good reference
