No need to roll the dice deciding on this High Roller!
Maxxis is one of the top bicycle tire manufacturers out there. They sponsor a lot of bike competitions/events and have a lot of brand recognition. if you're into bikes I'm just preaching to the choir I'm sure.Once the snow and heavy muck clears I'll be able to give this specific model a fair on-trail eval, but in the interim, I'm going to do a sight comparison. Looking at this High Roller and comparing it to the Maxxis Minion DHR II tire that came stock on my mt bike, a tire that I've ridden for eight months now.In the side by side tread photo (High Roller on the left / Minion on the right) the tread patterns are quite similar. The High Roller just slightly less knobby. It has a higher tire pressure rating, 60 psi vs 50 psi which would contribute to some increased speed if you chose to run your pressure up there. All the other rubber compounds, layering etc all seem to be identical so I can say with some certainty that this High Roller will handle the rocks, roots, hard-pack and occasional light mud as well as the Minion DHR II that I've been riding, and hold up as well long term (the tread photo is my front tire and shows little wear).Like the Minion, the High Roller is a directional tire, so be sure to look for the rotation arrow on the sidewall, and mount accordingly.I'll have no reservations running this tire hard and fast on the trails and it'll be hitting the bike park as well. As always I'll return and update this review should I find anything that would counter this review and be something you'd want to know."Enjoy The Ride"

High Quality Tire, Tubeless, High TPI
The Maxxis High Roller II is a high quality tire with low rolling resistance with a TPI of 120 (aka, it's not prone to puncture). It was easy to put onto my 29er rim. The tire has good grip and I experienced no issues with it. I set this up with a tube since I only have a single of this tire right now and didn't want to deal with the mess of sealant but when I place the order for the second tire this will certainly be going on my MTB. It was nice and grippy through the corners and they were nice and quick from the lower rolling resistance. My present tires, not to be named, while grippy are not great on the rolling resistance side and therefore after testing this on my rear wheel I'm sold on moving over to the High Roller.
