Powers your windshield camera and helps run cables cleanly!
I had put a USB port in my truck. Then I plugged my windshield camera into it. It lasted a day and stopped working. I realized that the camera didn't take 12V DC it was supposed to run on 5V DC and burned up. I got this and wired it into my fuse box (with another connector I got off Amazon) and run it straight to my new camera. Then you can run the cables cleanly into headliner seeing how it doesn't connect to a USB port in front where everyone can see. Highly recommend!

But them
Been very reliable so far. Seems to be a quality item.

Convenient for amateur radio
These work great for powering USB-C devices in the context of amateur radio: I can run them off the 12v power supply in my shack or from a 12v battery when I'm in the field.

Worth the cost. Makes a constant powerful option to charge
Wired into my Harley. Works awesome and charge much faster they the battery drain

Easy as can be!
Installation is easy - just provide a positive and ground from your rig's fuse box or nearby wiring harness, and you've immediately got a 5v USB-C source that you can use to power a phone or display of some kind (I'm using mine to power my wireless trailer camera that required a power port adapter - now my power port is free to use for something else). Great value, and feels rock solid - if any issues in the future, I'll update this review, but am really happy with the functionality so far!Has two mounting 'ears' that come in handy when wanting to secure this to the underside of the dash or other similar location.

good way to power pi5 from a car
Your locked to USB-C as the output but i see it as a plus, dont have to solder that bit on.Just bear that in mind when you buy this. Also this wont tell the RaspberryPi5 that it can use "big power mode". But you can safely tell the pi in raspi-config to ignore the limits and just pull what it can. I can power a touchscreen, usb3 stick and the pi5 with an active cooler all on this thing with no issue.Don't really feel any heat coming from it, and its an epoxy build so its going to have good water resistance and strength. Of course don't submerge.. the way the cables come out the epoxy means its not 100% water tight.12v-24v input means car usage is solid.still going strong 3 months now. Powering pi5 with active cooler, a usb wifi adapter, usb soundcard, and usb rca camera dongle, & usb touch screen.

Works fine, but not getting anything near 25 watts. Still worth price.
This adapter appears to be well made and carefully labeled, but the specifications say "25 watts" and "5 amps max" and I'm not getting anywhere that if I can believe the little USB tester I have (see photo). Granted, the output current is more than double what I got from a standard USB adapter (0.8 amps at 5 volts), but it's not nearly as much as claimed. To be fair, USB C PD is complicated and both devices must talk to each other and agree on voltage and current levels. My other charger will switch to 9 volts which results in considerably faster charging- this one does not. And not all cables will support this. I tried 3 different ones including a known high power cable.Test conditions: the load was a OnePlus 9g phone at 70% charge level and room temperature. The charger itself was cold (50 degrees F) because it had been installed on my motorcycle which was sitting outside.

A 12V to USB-C PD adapter that works with the Raspberry Pi 5!
One of the few 12V to 5V 5A USB-C adapters that work with the Raspberry Pi 5! No low power warnings! The Raspberry Pi 5 USB type C power connector uses USB type C Power Delivery communication to negotiate the higher 5 amperes at 5.1 volts, which is per PD standard 3.0, but higher than the normal 3 amperes specified in the type C standard. Without negotiating 5 ampere Power Delivery, the Raspberry Pi 5 USB ports are limited to 0.6A, instead of a total of 1.6A. from all four ports. The Raspberry Pi 5 mains wall wart supports this, but I have been searching for a direct 12 volt adapter, to avoid the clutter of an inverter-wall wart combo. I have tried a lot of other brand 12 volt to type C PD adapters and they failed the higher current negotiation. This adapter module WORKS if you add this line to the end of /boot/firmware/config.txt:usb_max_current_enable=1This makes the Pi5 assume that the PSU is capable of delivering the full 5 Amps if/when needed, and ignore the PD negotiation.

Misleading. Not 5V 5A. Itโs 5V 3A
Itโs a 3A not 5A. Not good for Raspberry Pi

Works with Raspberry Pi 5
I bought 5 of these to use with Raspberry Pi 5 and they work well.
