Nice litter box
Good quality, sturdy plastic, easy assembly, perfect size. Cats immediately started using it and I haven't heard any complaints. It cleans up easily and keeps odors contained. Good price and value, comparable to more expensive litter boxes.

Nice extra large litter box.
This is our second of these litter boxes we have gotten from Van Ness. The first one is still in use, but we decided to get a second one since we decided to keep the last two of our rescue kittens. These are really great litter boxes and the cats get their privacy for the most part, except for when our little Shih Tzu wants to peek in and see what those cats are doing. This type of litter box keeps the odor way down. We thought about getting one of those self cleaning boxes, but from what we heard, others went back to the traditional litter boxes eventually. We and our noses and our kitties are all happy.

Flimsy compared to other Van Ness cat boxes but gets the job done
But it gets the job done. The flimsiness doesn’t really matter - it’s not like you’ll be taking the thing on vacation or anything - so it has one job to do and it does it satisfactorily enough. I’ve had Van Ness boxes for 25 years or so. Usually very sturdy, but not this one. Strong enough an adult male cat could get on top of it and it’s going to support his weight with no problem. Seems to be made from resilient and not brittle plastic.Like others here - mine arrived with one latch already busted off but, again, I’m not traveling with the thing so it’s a non-issue. I never latched the top on my other Van Ness boxes, for ease of daily cleaning. Is shipped bare, not shipped in a box, so it’s easy to see why the latches go missing in transit. This one has two filters since it’s the extra large size. Historically they can go maybe about a year before needing to be swapped out, And they’re very effective at their job.Leave the door off - it’s pointless and if anything might discourage your cat from using the box.For the price, it gets the job done, sitting in a corner, and I expect it will last many years.TL;DR:Flimsy but not brittleLatches might be missing but aren’t necessary in the first placeNot shipped in a box which is actually a plus since it saves on more garbage to dispose ofDoor should be removed which is easy enough to doTall sides to keep the litter in the boxLight weight so easy to carryGets the job done

The Cat's View of a Litter Box
My owner is off the computer for the moment, so let me use this opportunity to tell you about the Pureness Giant Translucent Litter Box. In short, we cats love this box! My name is Nemo, and I am the oldest ( male age 5 years) of three cats living in the household. My sisters are age three and ten months-Boy, is the kitten a handful... Anyway, perhaps there are some other felines out there who take an interest in pet supplies ordered by their owners. As you know, most of us can urinate just about anywhere we chose - carpet, bedding, etc. Most of us prefer to use clean boxes. I'm not sure the owners understand when we do not use the appointed litter box, we are usually trying to make a statement- Oftentimes, we just want to point out the box needs cleaning or we have an illness which needs human attention - Then again, sometimes we just don't feel like using a box. Well, the new kitten had such an episode the other day. Feeling the immediate need to relieve herself, she did so on the bed-Humans are so prone to outbursts, & this was no exception. I thought we were going to be rid of the young pest, but the owners relented & just decided to get a second litter box. Guess they thought one of us was using the first box when the little monster kitty felt the urge to go. My owner is so uptight, she spent five hours researching litter boxes online-Even made us sit at the computer to ask our opinion-Like we'd actually tell her- Anyway, this box arrived super fast & was well packed. Boy, have we ever had fun with all the packing material. Anyway, the lid fits well. Owners removed the front door flap since it got in our way. I waited for my sisters to use it first in case something was amiss. I tried it out just this morning & like it. One of the best features is the translucent, smoke gray color. It allows you to see other kitties lying in wait outside the box. My sisters love a practical joke and are always poised to attack just outside the box. Whatever happened to quietly reading "Cat Fancy" while doing your business? The handle is sturdy-I should mention that, due to my allergies, my doctor vet suggested we use shredded newspaper rather than perfumed & dusty litter. Using newspaper means there is no extra strain or weight put on the handle or other parts. As to odor control, which seems to be a big issue with the humans, we don't find a problem with this box. Using newspaper as litter does not offer the same odor control as regular litter, so our owners (you know, the uptight one) change the contents two to four times per day. Of course, every time the paper is changed, we like to pee again, but the humans need more exercise & stuff to do, so this works out fine for us cats. The owners really seem to like the locking features between the lid & bottom. Our other box is one of those large domed, round Booda styles without lock features in the lid. I was able to raise the lid with my back, pee outside the box, & set the lid back in place. It always made a nice April Fool's Day joke, anytime of the year. Well, you know humans, they had to go with a locking lid. By the way, if your owners are upset when urine pools around or underneath the litter box, we have some suggestions. So many people seem to use mats or carpets underneath a box-This doesn't alleviate the problem. Our owners use plastic trays under the box and then put plastic carpet runners under the trays. The tray catches any leakage - The Pureness Box does not seem to leak, but just thought I'd mention it in case it's an issue with your humans. The dimensions given for the box are accurate - My owner was considering the smaller model, but due to my length & nine pound, fine body, the larger model was ordered. The price was reasonable & there's money left over for new toys - I'd prefer a cage for the monster kitten, but sometimes it's best to let the owners think they are in charge. Hope you all enjoy this box as much as we do. Remember, always keep the owners guessing what you'll do next - They listen to you better that way.

Latches missing
I give this 2½ stars. 2 of the 4 latches are missing. There's just 1 on each side. Only 1 of the 2 actually latches. Latches are a bit flimsy, but secure enough (the 1 that actually latches anyway haha) The box is a bit on the flimsy side, but this doesn't bother me as I prefer a more lightweight litter box as well as the fact that litter boxes are stationary. I initiated a return and Amazon is sending a replacement. The process was very quick and easy.I will change my rating of the replacement comes fully in tact. But whoever packs these for Van Ness needs to get it together because other reviews indicate that this is not just a one off. This causes frustration for the buyer and makes the brand look bad which will lead people to avoid buying Van Ness products. Door is slightly lopsided, but perhaps that's just due to the missing latches causing the top to not be seated straight. Although a bit lopsided, the door does swing freely. The door is detachable if you find your cat is stressed by being enclosed in the litter box. The size is great for multi cat households as well as for large cats to be able to enter and move around with ease. The filters included do a good job at absorbing odor (based on my past experience with Van Ness litter boxes) and replacement filters are low cost.

My cat loves it
I really recommend this type of litter box because my cat loves it so much and when she goes in there and be kicking litter everywhere, it stays in the box and let me tell you the smell also stays inside the box so get this one its worth it and is super easy to clean and super easy to handle.

Cat box
3 stars on the assembly because the door is very lightly clipped. Will probably fall off on you multiple times. Worked for us because the cats hate the cover anyway so we just use the bottom tray haha

Amazing Quality for the Price
This litter box is amazing, very well made, good quality materials, lots of room inside (more than I expected). The only thing that is cheaply made is the swinging door which I take off anyways as most cats don't like that - I just put a litter mat in front of it. Btw - I put it in a corner which fits perfectly, and unlike any other litter box I've had I don't have to move it away from the wall to undo the lid fasteners which is great.Price - I checked locally at a number of stores, and all over Amazon - this is the only one I found that has a top and is under $35. I just ordered a second one while I still have the chance to get one.
