Basic Electric Coffee Bean Roaster

Been looking for a good, simple, easy roaster for a long time. Been using a Gene Cafe and been pretty happy with it. But I tend to burn beans every now and them. Tried another fancy roaster that was disappointing. Finally found this one, and it works great. The automatic option is great for me. Push in a code (type of coffee, area grown, and how it was treated) preheat, push roast, wait about 15 minutes, dump and continue. Gotta give fair warning on a couple of things. First, the directions talk about a buzzer when preheated and when cooling. Ain't heard any, but the little remote unit tells you what the temperature is supposed to be and what it actually is, so when the two meet, time to add the beans. The second and most important is to make sure you pull the finished bean receiving tray out before you open the door to dump the roasted beans. I left the tray pushed in, opened the door, beans dumped on the floor. So, watch that. This machine is not completely smokeless, let's face it I wasn't expecting no odor from a roaster. The purifier works great, no smoke filled room, smoke alarms aren't going off, not limited visibility, actually pretty smoke free, very happy with it. They do add in a bendable aluminum tube to use for a chimney if you desire (I don't). If you are someone that is more actively involved in the roasting process, there are options on the pad so you can do your experimenting thing. I like simple and easy and this works great for me. Also get to roast more at one time than the Gene Cafe, which cuts down the amount of time I have to spend on roasting. The chaff collector is simple to empty, pull out the tray and dump it. No knocking chaff out, getting it all over the place and having a chaff cloud. So, I would recommend this machine to anyone that likes fresh roasted coffee, no matter your experience level.

First, when I do manuel it still wants to shut off and change settings. When i push and hold R it will not turn off heat. There is a lot of plastic that can catch on fire inside the machine, doing dark roast is not recommended. Over all, not bad. One more thing, it is difficult to roast 7 batches even when the roaster has cooled.

Great idea, large capacity with lots of options but some parts are cheap. I have been home roasting for about 15 years. I have had many small home roasters. Finally found one where I can roast a large amount of beans in a batch. Problem is some of the components are a bit cheap. At first the device started to shut off mid roast. I emailed the company and they were very receptive. Through corespondents it was determined that it was either the controller board or the thermocouple. They sent me both with video instructions on how to replace. With the help of my son in law it took about an hour to replace both. We found the cable for the thermocouple had a kink where it passed through the firewall (clearly an installation issue. That seemed to fix it. Now the control panel is showing issues with some of the buttons. Customer service sent me links to buy what parts I need and responded quickly. Taking it apart to repair really gave me a good feel as to how this device was built. I was impressed I just think they could put a little more QC to some of the sensitive areas. The connections are USB and a little flimsy. The push button control panel is a bit unreliable. Where the cable enters the control box could be reinforced. Some of the cable routing could be reinforced.

This electric machine is excellent for home roasting or small roasting side gig. (I bought this machine as a birthday gift last year and it is frequently used and takes the guesswork out of roasting. ) The machine has preselcted roasting settings and you can adjust to your preferance and functions . The rotating drum move those beans at a steady speed for even roasting. There is a chaff drawer that catches all the skins and the roaster cools the beans when done roasting. The machine has the little spoon to slide out and look at the beans while roasting. It is amazingly easy to use. This roaster is a practical and functional tool for home roasting. It comes with a replaceable filter as well as a vent tube to vent fumes outside. You can smell the beans roasting so make sure you have it in a room with great ventilation. We have gotten our moneys worth with the time we save and being able to roast the beans we want to our specifications. Its a great value for all that it does. Oir beans come oit tasting great

This roaster is supposed to be smokeless but I have noticed plenty of smoke. Instruction manual says to replace the filter if you notice smoke. Good luck finding a filter. Looked on the manufacturers website, nothing. Emailed customer service, nothing. Now the preheat button won’t work. I would not buy this roaster again.

This is easy to setup, easy to use. I've been roasting at home for 15 years and it was time for something new. This does everything you need it to, apply a preset to your beans, track your own profile with manual setting override for the perfect roast. A real bonus is the inspection scoop that allows me to check the beans during roasting without interfering with the roast. Pull out cooling tray and chaff collection. The smokestack is perfect, allowing me to put the exhaust directly to the range hood fan, pulling the smoke completely away. Not a hint of smoke was in the house! And can roast almost a full pound! Perfecto!
