Do what they need to do at a fair price.
A few years ago I was diagnosed as being pre diabetic and advised to change my lifestyle in order to counteract my rising blood glucose levels. This I did and have now been in the normal range for over two years but I do like to periodically check my levels and that usually means doing a finger prick test. So I do have need of a supply of lancets. These lancets are 28 gauge, which is a bit finer than my preferred winter lancet which is a 21G. However summer is approaching and I normally find it easier to get blood out of my finger when the temperature is higher. I must say I do prefer to use a finer lancet when I can as it minimises the discomfort. A 21G needle used on the finger can be a bit savage. When I take blood from my finger I don't use a mechanical trigger device as I have found them to be ineffective for me. Instead I use the lancet manually so that I can wriggle it around a little in order to encourage the blood drop to form. In that respect these lancets suit me fine. I have no need to worry about if they will fit any particular gun.In use they were the same as most lancets I have used. Break off the top to reveal the point and then stick it into the finger. The test I did managed to draw blood at the first attempt and I was able to obtain a successful reading from my glucometer. That is all I required from the lancet.Value wise I think £5.49 is a fair price for 100 units.

These are inserts.
We need to take a number of blood tests over the next few weeks and I thought these would be ideal. I mistakenly thought that they were complete, one shot disposable lancets, but they are not. They are designed for use with a blood testing machine which fires it into the finger and then you replace it with a new lancet. My mistake. However you can easily use them "manually" jabbing them into your finger with the other hand. Being a fine lancet they are less painful than bigger ones, but obviously make a smaller hole so you don't get so much blood before it heals over. So, there are good lancets which should be used in conjunction with a suitable blood sampling device, but can be used on their own if you are brave enough. Or we could buy a lancing device as there are many on offer starting at around £4.
