Gripping duology!!
Sequels which are better than the previous books are always great. Even though I enjoyed Little white lies, I didn't love it but that wasn't the case with Deadly little scandals. So, the book 1 ended up after Sawyer, Campbell and Lily made sure that the bad man is behind the bar but Sawyer still hasn't shared who her dad is to her cousin and they are uncovering more secrets and a skull. Yeah, they found a skull and started digging to find who that is and that brings more twists. One thing I realised about Barnes books is that I can never uncover the twists the book has in hold for me because whatever I anticipate, it gets more twistier than that. This book was like that. Twists after twists which kept me turning pages like anything.I said, in book 1, there were more characters and I didn't root for anyone as I couldn't get attached but that wasn't the case in this one. I loved Sawyer's character growth, Lily's journey and Campbell too in my own way. I loved the cute moments between Nick and Sawyer too but they were bare minimum and I don't have any complaints with romance being a subplot when family drama and secrets kept me on the hook.I highly recommend this gripping duology with pretty ballgowns, rich people drama and family secrets, blackmails, secret society and what not.

Such a great book!! Read it asap!!
I was given the recommendation to read this book by a former student of mine and it doesn’t disappoint! There is plenty of surprises and drama to go around.

Good but also rather confusing and extremely far fetched
I want to start off by saying I LOVE Jennifer Lynn Barnes. Like, truly, love. I’ve been reading her books since I was a literal child and happened upon one of her series by accident. I’ve continued to read and love her books as I have grown and I really enjoyed the first book in the series - little white lies. I loved all of the twists and turns and reveals and the little glimpses into the future until the timeline linked up. I was really excited to read this book, and whilst it wasn’t bad, I found it to be extremely far fetched and a bit too fantastical. That sounds silly to say about a fictional novel, especially as someone who adores fantasy and the escape fiction gives from reality. But honestly all of the reveals and the family lineage and potential accidental incest and the secret family members gave me a headache. At one point I literally rolled my eyes at the absolute silliness of it. That being said it wasn’t a bad book! I finished it in one day and I did enjoy it. Just not as much as I was hoping too, and I wasn’t entirely satisfied with how it ended.

A twisty sequel
Could have used some family trees to keep it all straight by the end, but overall a fun read. I didn’t guess the ending and it it did a nice job of pulling together the plots of both books.
