Completely amazing device that also looks the part
My first ever audio interface. I've started to dabble with music and was using a RCA 3.5 mm straight out of my Mac into my Audioengine speakers. I have a piano, a guitar and a microphone and wanted to start to take sound more seriously and get these instruments and mic connected to my computer in a "proper" way. So an audio interface is needed.I bought the Scarlett Solo 4th gen. I do not think at my stage I need any more inputs. I was initially looking at much more expensive audio interfaces such as the Antelope models that are upwards of £700. But so many people recommend the Scarlet for beginners for the superb build and sound quality.I picked this up in Dec 2023 when it was on offer for £81. It is absolutely superb and easy to use. The sound quality now that I connect my amplifier directly to the Scarlett is amazing. I can also play my guitar and piano through this either through the speakers or via my headphones to save annoying everyone in the house! I really do not know what spending much more money would deliver. Maybe more features but for someone with modest needs like me the Scarlett is more than capable.Build quality is very good and it is a very attractive in a red metal and is built to last. It is small and discrete. Some of these audio interfaces are big and bulky, but not the Scarlett.Simplicity itself to connect it up on my Mac. Just go to Settings>Sounds and then select the Scarlet which automatically gets added to the list of devices. No need for messing about with drivers etc.I was a bit surprised that upon delivery it was quite lightly packaged. But it arrived perfectly sound.Delighted with it!

Great Interface
I wanted to buy an audio interface for my electric guitar so I don’t disturb others while playing at home. There are many options on the market for audio interfaces and at various prices. After looking at the competition I decided it was worth the money to go with a focusrite interface. I was not disappointed upon delivery and testing the device as it comes with nice software to use for jamming and recording my guitar audio which was a big plus. Also, there isn’t any noticeable lag or latency when playing and the volume is great and adjustable on the fly. The build quality seems solid for an interface that can easily be transported around while traveling, for example.

It's good but there are some bad bits
I purchased this to setup a home recording studio. The unit itself was very easy to setup and build quality is very good. It interfaces to my DAW perfectly and does produce fairly high quality audio. There are some annoying downsides which is why I cannot award 5 stars. One I consider pretty major considering this seems to be aimed at the hobbyist or as a studio practise tool.Firstly, and very annoyingly, there is no power on/off button. It can be powered from a power supply or from your computer USB port. This means the unit is always on and you cannot turn it off without disconnecting both cables. If you remove the power supply, it will still stay on via your USB connection. I cannot see cables lasting too long having to keep disconnecting and reconnecting, plus it's a complete pain.Secondly, and I think the biggest fault in this unit, the 2 x 6.35mm inputs at the back cannot have the gain changed. That would not be so bad if they had been set at a usable gain in the first place, but they are set at pro line level. This will be an issue for many as the majority of devices that the hobbyist or home user will plug in there will run at consumer line level. This means that the volume level is extremely low. Almost unusable. The only solutions to this is that you either up the volume in software or you have to purchase a line level shifter which is not cheap. This is a bad design decision by Focusrite. Earlier generations of this unit had a high/low gain setting but it has been removed in the last couple of versions. I am fortunate that I plug a mixer in there where I can adjust the gain. I almost returned the unit just because of this issue as if I was using those inputs directly, they would be of no use at all. Both my arranger keyboard and digital piano hardly register on the volume meter when plugged in directly. My mixer solves this issue but without that, I would not have been able to use this device for the purposes intended. Doing research on this, it seems to be a very common complaint from other owners.

Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen USB Audio Interface
After a long debate I simply upgraded to Focusrite 4i4 4th gen. God ! I went through 4 different interfaces before this 4i4: Trumix 12, Presonus 24c, Roland Rubix 24 and Focusrite 2i2. The difference between 4i4 4th and these 4 is night an day ! Simply amazing on my KRKs 7 - tested 4i4 on Yamahas HS8s and the sound will blow your mind. For a better sound quality I had to replace all my cabling too: went for Neutrik cabling. Amazon has a good variety of XLR/TRS cables. I have not tested any software that comes with the unit as I will not need it but I am so so impressed with this tiny unit. And it looks the business. I know others complained about not having a power button but I got a usb 2.0 switch so all ok here.Overall : Simply amazing ! Well done Focusrite and to all engineers involved in upgrading to 4th gen. Also Thanks Amazon for same day delivery!

Excellent Interface for Home Recording!
If you need an interface between $100-$150 this is the one to get! My recordings are so crisp with my Rode NT1 mic hooked up. Love the way the inputs are setup and the build quality/value for money is insane. Be sure to register yours and update the firmware with the free software provided by Focusrite. Very ease to use too!
