Gates AX39 Tri-Power Belt

This belt is used an a Craftsman contractor style table saw. It replaced the well worn non-cogged original belt. It is a much more flexible belt than the original V-belt. I tried replacing with the original type belt and had a pronounced vibration when running and a shudder on startup and shutdown. The cogged belt very nearly eliminated this resulting in a much quieter and smoother running saw. I believe this to be a better solution than a linked belt since rapid wear seems to be a problem with the linked belts. A cogged belt seems to be my preferred choice for a power tool application when both durability and operating smoothness is required. The Gates also seems to be a bit better than other similar belts in this regard.

I used this on my Craftsman table saw because the other belts seem to develop a out of round problem. This happens when you do not use the table saw for a few months it causes the motor and belt to jump up and down making it hard to cut a thick piece of wood. I bought this belt and twoTB Woods AK2558 pulleys to replace the original dye cast pulleys and this make for a smoother running table saw. And since it is a Gates belt it will last a long time before it need replacement

Very good belt. The cogged design helped solve the wearing issue I had with a compressor. The compressor's motor had a small diameter pulley and the belt had to go around this sharp bend. I was replacing belts every six months until I started to use the cogged version. Two years and it's still good to go!
