Works great in sand
I needed this for a sandbar at a local lake after I saw how easy others anchored in the shallow water. A simple online search shows how to build this with simple PVC and nut & bolt. Even though plastic, it seems real tough. Turning the auger and drilling into sand was no problem and it withheld just fine. I will be getting another one to use on the opposite side of boat instead of my Danforth anchor. Very happy with this.

Is okey.
The material is not metal if planning to get for some length of time think about it.Is as described made out of pvc that makes it very light weight if that is what you are going for.Easy to use and is well built.

Just what I needed!
Would I buy it again? - Definitely! This is just what I needed to complete a depth gauge and sand anchor. PROS: Product is well constructed. It appears quite sturdy. The hole for the bolt is well placed and surrounded by adequate material so I don't believe fracture or early failure upon repeated use will be an issue. It holds very well in sand, mud and light gravel bottoms.CON: Product literature specifies it is designed for schedule 40 PVC and the inserted portion is specified as 1.57' internal Diameter. ASTM specification for schedule 40 PVC pipe is 1.9" OD with a wall thickness minimum of .145". This means an Internal diameter of 1.61". Initial fit into pipe was too loose and I was concerned that repeated uses would eventually fracture the PVC pipe due to motion--- solution- wrapped one thickness of duct tape or plumbers' tape as a gasket and no motion. when screwing into bottom.

too short
I know the description provides the measurements on this anchor/auger but I was hoping that it would have driven further into the sandy soil. The unit material has its pros and cons. The plus is that it is plastic and it won't rust over the change of weather. The minus is that it is plastic and sort of a cheap or lower grade plastic. I'm guessing it will hold up - only time will tell. It would have been nice if it came with a way to drive or turn the auger into the ground. The hole to anchor will only work with rope or small to medium size clip. It's not too bad, just was hoping for a little better quality.

Excellent
This is an excellent diy sand bar auger. It digs into the sand well and it held out 24’ pontoon in place. It has not broken or seems to stress from our usage. I wish it came with mounting hardware but it did not advertise that it came with it.

Sand Anchor
If you boat anywhere near a beach and you haven't discovered these, then you've been missing out. This is well made and sturdy. Drills into the sand and soft lake bottom with ease and holds our boat securely. Should hold up for years. Just attach to your PVC pipe and you're ready to go.

bolted to my pole
This bolted to my aluminum pole. I slipped the brace around the pole, then took a pipe through the top of the pole and screwed it into the bottom of the lake. It is still holding my pole in the ground effectively. It is a lightweight plastic.
