This particular product does not come with a control solution, unlike in what you see in Youtube unboxing, which is a BIG ZONK as it is "recommended" to use a control solution first before its initial use. It is just counter-intuitive to its recommendation.On the other hand, it has 5 test strips, 5 lancets with the poking device, and a very cheap carry bag to get you started. The bluetooth is working fine, and it connects to my smartphone smoothly, and it tests, fine, I guess; I don't have the control solution to confirm its accuracy.

I was not sure what I was going to get with my order. For $8 what can you expect. The ad listed few details nbt what I got was above and beyond expectations. FIRST... THIS IS NOT a bare device. It's a COMPLETE starter kit for $8 and comes with 10 test strips to get you started. Comes with a case, lancets, lancet device, test solution and detailed instructions. The unit is Bluetooth compatible so you can download an app from the APP store and keep track if multiple devices. Great if you want one for Home and office and the APP will automatically sync data while the meter is turned on. And for $8 you can afford the convenience.Strips are market prices and definitely cheaper than some "name" brand strips. At about $12 per 50 its not a bad deal.The unit is small, easy to setup and read. Quick with results and links to APP without issue.Nice quality kit at an extraordinarily low price...

I have used many diabetes meters over the years. This one gives results similar to two others I happened to have in the house. It seems that almost every time I get another insurance carrier, they cover a different meter. But the Contour Next One is easy to use and set up.The companion software works very well and is no extra charge (both iPhone or Android) and syncs via Bluetooth. It lets you set up the meter initially, and keeps track of your results and averages. Ii keeps your glucose readings, as well as optionally logs your meals, medications (pills or insulin), exercise, freeform notes (any text) and you can attach photos as well. It can share your results with your healthcare team and shows you graphs of your results. It even lets you log your HbA1c history. The software also lets you manually enter results from another meter.

Works well with either free download of Contour App for phone or with your micro USB cable and PC with free download of software from Contour/Ascencia. You can chart results with both and print easily with the PC diabetes software. Uncomplicated and intuitive to set up and use the unit it stores the information and is an excellent standalone for those that are smart phone or computer challenged. Readout on unit has excellent readability, it uses 2032 batteries that are long lasting and easily replaced when necessary. Unit gives ample warning when batteries need replacing. Best meter technology out there as far as I am concerned. Test strips for this unit are readily available with several sources on line giving very good pricing.

Decent instructions, easy set up & use. The meter & lancet are well made. The 10 yr. old meter we have is outdated & could not find new test strips for it so I purchased the Contour Next One. I have not used glucose meters regularly in the past but want to monitor my blood glucose levels now after a high fasting lab test. Set up was easy, instructions were clear. I especially like that the meter will wait if additional blood is needed. The Contour app is useful. Blue tooth connectivity has a bit of lag, but not horrible. I appreciate the new features & convenience. I registered the meter but not sure if I will be getting the "free" gifts from Ascensia. Ill have to follow up w/them. The only complaint is the storage case is too soft and floppy.

It is very easy to use. The display is a nice size and easy to read. Accuracy seems good. The device itself is 5 stars. The app, on the other hand, is a bit quirky. The Bluetooth connectivity is generally reliable but once in a while I have to close and relaunch the app to get it to sync. I like the design and functionality of the app but it has room for improvement in terms of logging foods and carb intake. For example, typing in the name of food has to match previously logged food from the first letter instead of doing a content search. There is no built-in or online database of foods so you have to enter everything from scratch. To use the reporting features you have to register and store data in the cloud so be comfortable with that. The reporting capabilities are somewhat limited. I rate the app 3 stars so the overall average rating of the product is 4 stars.
