Montessori Cheese ( PSA: don't let your kids bathe with it)
I was so excited when the cheese came, it's the perfect size for toddler hands-smaller than I expected but good for the price. My under 2 didn't care for it at first, that's fine. Me and my husband would play with it while watching tv, and garnered the attention of said toddler. I have found him independently playing with it several times, he is able to lace it, and unlace just a little. The lacing piece of wood has a little mouse face on it, which is a cute touch I didn't expect. The cheese block is solid wood, the paint is nice with some gloss. Every hole connects to another, and the lace is cotton. Overall it feels very natural.Just a word of warning, this is wood. Of course it's not fully waterproof. It is not designed to be left in a full bathtub overnight, like my husband did after bathing our son. Which is why I don't have a picture to show, the paint is peeling and it swelled and cracked in areas. Still playable and well-loved.

Excellent for quiet, focused play
Cute little wooden toy, perfect for travel or for when the kiddo (and mom) needs a break from all the noisy toys. I enjoy watching my 21-month-old sit quietly to focus on lacing the mouse through the holes. It was a proud moment when he picked it right up and instinctively knew what to do with the toy. The edges are smooth, though some of the holes had rough spots, but nothing that posed a safety concern for the kiddo. I only noticed because I could hear the string getting snagged while making passes through the holes. I didn’t notice any off-gassing and the weight of the wood and the quality of the string were solid. There are many buying options for this same toy. I chose this one as it was priced competitively and was offered through Prime.

So cute!
A bit smaller than I'd though it would be, but it's adorable! My son is 14 months old and needs help with this, but he'll get the hang of it. It's easy for him to hold onto, and the string is long enough to easily thread through the holes in the cheese. My 5-year-old nephew (and, I'll be honest, my husband) were also entertained by this. It's a good toy to keep in the babysitting bag or to bring to church or something, since it's small, quiet and has the potential to keep my son entertained for a while.

great, simple toy for all aspects of development!
My daughter's Occupational therapist had one of these, and she used to love it!! It is wonderful for both general skills like fine motor skills, but also emotional regulation, and turn taking if you have a child who is easily frustrated, you can ask them to work their way up to a full maze, or take turns raveling and unraveling the mouse. It is also just way fun for any kid. I love this for her, and when it showed up she was very excited. This was great timing for both nostalgia and for a little entertainment while recovering from surgery. She will sit and play with this for a long time. I recommend this for all young children. A little time away from screens and complex toys. It is wonderful for them.

Wooden Lacing Cheese Toy
Here's the deal... The product arrived on time and in good condition. My daughter is a speech language pathologist. She works with three year old children to twenty-one year old adults with autism from one end of the spectrum to the other. As such they all have various behavior triggers and reward triggers. All I can say is that these were a big hit at the autism center and that the other speech language pathologists were begging my daughter to share this wooden cheese lacing toy to use with their patients. Vibrant yellow and smoothly drilled, milled and painted made this a good choice. It seems to have a calming effect on whomever uses it...including me. Look, I know it seems silly...but it's simple and it works. It is now in high demand at this center for autism and my daughter is so happy that I stumbled across it. Anything to help these beautiful misunderstood children and adults. There you have it.

Nice quality, just the right size, adorable!
I bought this toy for a toddler on a long flight, and I fully expect that he will be enchanted. The 'cheese' is just the right size for him to hold, and the little 'mouse' needle is adorable. He is a little bit young to understand the mouse eating the cheese concept, but that will not detract from his fun. Some reviewers complained of splinters, and there were one or two on my toy, but I ran the mouse through all the holes one time and that took care of the whole issue, they just fell off and the wood was smooth. Highly recommended to keep a little one entertained in a thoughtful way.

Huge hit
I bought this as a stocking stuffer for my 3 year old to help with fine motor. It is also good for imaginative play. He loved it and my 6 year old enjoys playing with it as well. It is small enough to bring along on road trips or to a restaurant and keeps them busy. I like the quality of materials used as well.

Perfect Basic Toy
This is the perfect little toy for on the go (think restaurants). I got it for my almost 2 year old but his 4 year old cousin was even amused by it. Sometimes, simple is best! I love watching his little mind work when he is figuring how he wants to but it and take it back out.
