Great book
Great book on servant leadership. Very practical. Maybe a touch too much monk stuff.

Interesting collection of contributors, but sometimes short on details and applicability
This is a great curated collection of articles from a widely varied collection of writers and leaders. In an earlier publication by Ken Blanchard, there was considerable failure in recognizing the contributions of Richard Greenleaf to the principles of Servant Leadership. This collection does a much better job thanks to the contributors. It's greatest shortcoming is that some of the chapters feel like the writers just took their leadership theories or management practices and then squeeze some concept of servant leadership into the essay. And while the curation of these articles attempted to provide a framework or conceptualization to tie the articles together, they come short in feeling like a cohesive whole. Finally, the brevity of some of the articles leave you having to go to the author's other works to get a more comprehensive understanding. There is a lack in some of the practicality of the discussions or clear examples of how to apply the author's principles to the work of servant leaders.

Decent but not great
Book started out great, then begins to just be essay after essay comparing leadership and Jesus and other Christian ideas. Gets old very quickly. I was hoping for more essays and stories from successful business owners instead.Read this book as part of a leadership course I took for the VA.If you want a good book on leadership then stick to Simon Sineck instead and pass on this one.

Get this book. Just do yourself a life-affirming favor and get it. I normally do not like edited books with many contributors since I prefer the continuity of thought and intent that comes from a single author but this is clearly an exception. It contains powerful perspectives from people who have "been there and done that" and I mined value from each essay. As someone who teaches, trains, and coaches on leadership development, this work should be on your leadership bookshelf or in your device.

Good at first. Religious use.
Really liked this book at first. The applied examples provided in the early chapters were great. We initially bought it and were considering using it for a community book discussion. Unfortunately the entire book shifts to overt biblical references. As a result this is limited use text. It could have kept a religious theme even if they’d offered essayists with broader religious examples. As it is, it’s best geared for an older Christian reader. Personally liked the book. But literally gave our extra office copy to a priest.

Ken Blanchard just gets better with age
Ken Blanchard just gets better with age. This is a wonderful read capturing a wealth of insights, examples and lessons learned from perhaps the greatest leadership coach alive. This is a book that is at once developmental (helps you get better) and motivational (makes you want to get better). As a leadership consultant myself for over 25 years, I have to say, “Ken gets it!”

Serve first and lead second
I am glad that I purchased this book! The world is in desperate need of a different leadership role model which thinks of beyond power and control and lead at a higher purpose to make this world a better place. This book is edited by Ken Blanchard & Renee Broadwell and organised into six parts like Fundamentals of Servant Leadership, Elements of Servant Leadership, Lessons in Servant Leadership, Exemplers of Servant Leadership, Putting Servant Leadership to work and Servant Leadership turnarounds. This is a collection of 42 essays by renowned servant leadership experts and practitioners who offer advice and tools for implementing servant leadership model. The collection of stand alone essays makes it a book you can open anywhere and get started. I love the different perspectives on the same model by different thought leaders. It’s worty keeping a copy near you and read it slowly and implementing your learnings in your day to day life.Happy Learnings!!

Das Buch hat gute Ideen
Das Buch war leicht zu lesen, mit guten Ideen. Im Buch waren viele Beispiele aus der Bibel. Manchere Menschen mussen nicht damit gleichgesetzt werden.
