A book which would be an ideal present for a student or couple setting up home together.Has all the basic stain remover tips, red wine, chocolate, candle wax etc.and all within easy reach so no fiddling about trying to find the right section for various stains.Also has some good basic cleaning solutions (which are not made up of bleach or chemicals) which if you suffer from skin problems will be of a definate help. (Just goes to show that the older household cleaning solutions cann't be beaten at times, those older housewives certainly knew a thing or two).I thought at first that this book might be a little condescending to myself, having kept a clean and tidy house for many years (even if I say so myself) but no, it is put in such a way that you look at how you clean your own house and see if you can improve at any time, especially time wise. The only thing I would say that having a hound, that vaccuming in my house must be done everyday, I know that Anthea says that this is not needed but every other day (2/3) but I have to disagree.(Maybe I have OCD about vaccuming and dusting, I think my husband would agree).I learnt that instead of spending a fortune on dishwasher cleaning fluids, for cleaning the inside of the actual machine, that white vinegar put into it and it run on an empty cycle will do the same job, but without chemicals and at a low cost, so much the better cost wise and for the environment.I would never have normally bought a book like this but having seen one of Anthea's Perfect Housewife's programmes on TV the one with the sock being used to dust the bannister (I thought what a brilliant idea) I had to order the book, just to see if it lived up to the programme and yes it did.Just don't buy this book for a mother's day/birthday present (if not asked for in particular, (as you may end up sleeping in the kennel, albeit a lovely clean one).A brilliant book at a good price, well worth it, you could try getting it from your local library first just to make sure that it is the right book for yourself though.

I bought this book having seen the series. The writing style was far better than I had expected. It is broken down into sections:1) De-Cluttering your Home;2) Storage solutions;3) Cleaning;4) and 5) Cleaning room by room;6) Spring Cleaning;7) Laundry8) Children and Pets;9) The Home Office;10) Care and Repair;11) Removing Stains;12) and 13) Kitchen Sense;14) Shopping;15) Homemaking;16) 17) and 18) Entertaining; and19) Home Safety.Complements the TV series nicely and emphasises having a life rather than being ruled by the house . It is not patronising and is very helpful including tips on stain removal, ironing, organising paperwork etc. This book is an inspiration. Nice photographs would have been useful and so I do agree with other reviews on this point.One word of caution - I would just be careful about the Kindle edition as the sample that I downloaded only had the Entertainment section, and this appears to be the only content of the Kindle book, hence the different title. I am glad that I chose the paperback version instead.

AT herself IS a bit precious; she's always immaculate and looks very well-polished herself. However, her lovely house in the programme, and the thought of being able to move through such a pleasing space all the time, is very motivating to want to emulate her (to a degree). The book is helpful, manageable, practical, readable, and her ideas work.Marla Cilley, the FlyLady is an admirable companion to this book and perhaps, as another reviewer has suggested, the first port of call if you are in dire straits. But Anthea motivates you beyond just getting a grip of things, to keeping them really nice. To this end, one thing I did was buy a robot vacuum cleaner - my carpets now get cleaned every day while I get ready for work and, to me, that's a really efficient use of time!

Fantastic book. If you want your home squeaky clean this is the book to get.Anthea has so many brilliant ideas. Also at no extra expense of buying shop cleaning products.She has amazing ideas of her own on how to keep your home clean and smelling great. Definetly recommend buying this book.I bought this as a present for my friend as I already had one. I cannot believe how cheap it is as well. Great value.

I bought this book to give to my daughter for no other reason than she has just moved into her own home and loves the colour Pink, I had never been a big Anthea Fan, I found her 'too girlie' for my personal tastes.... So imagine my suprise when reading through the book I found it to be practical, she obviously does her own housework, and obviously puts thought into things, because a lot of her tips are really intelligent 'why didn't I think of that type tips'..... I look at the woman with a whole new admiration, this really is a very good book

I love this book. I don't understand why its missing pictures, its such a shame because they would help the motivation levels. But otherwise this is my domestic bible, the content is awesome. It has tips on everything from organising and cleaning room by room, to planning a Christmas that all the family will be amazed by.

本は、英会話のレッスンで使いそうな、英語学習のテキストのような感じというのかな。大きくてソフトカバーのツルツルとした紙です。テレビでやっていたガラスを床に割ってしまったら食パンを押し付けて取る、もちゃんと載っていました！YouTubeで「そんな食べ物を粗末にするなんてひどい！」というコメントが載っていましたが、私はこのアイディアすごい！と思いました。パン１枚で怪我の危険から解消されるんですもの。おもてなし編も同時に買い、ぺらぺらとめくって目についたところを読んでいます。最初から読まなくても、好きな箇所だけ読む方法で十分楽しめます。写真やアンシアの姿はどこにもありませんが、これが基本なんでしょうね。テレビで見た、アンシアがくれるバインダーのような感じで大事にします。

Great book. Waited a couple of weeks to receive it, but worth it. If you're looking for better ways to manage your home, this is the book to read.
