Macarthur [DVD]

Watch it.!!
A very good DVD in which Gregory Peck plays General Douglas MacArthur superbly. It is not difficult to see why Douglas MacArthur was known as an American Caesar. His magnanimity towards the Japanese at the end of WW2 was the prime reason Japan became the country it did afterwards.

a great performance of a great hero.
Brilliant portrayal of a fascinating man, who joins the ranks alongside the great participants of second world war Peck is immaculate as MacArthur and deserved an Oscar, and vthe Pacific war is not as well known as the European war, so it helps better understand this last stage of the horrors suffered by all at the closing of the second world war.

Peck at his Best
Realized this was a Gregory Peck movie I had missed originally. Considered him superb as usual; he was MacArthur. Had recently seen his Oscar winning Aticus Finch in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, and felt his MacArthur equally worthy.

Very good and well acted by Gregory Peck
Very good and well acted by Gregory Peck. It leads to the question why did he choose a motor Torpedo boat to reach Australia when a submarine would have been much safer. Particularly when his family would have been involved..

Good but not great return of MacArthur
I bought this video because MacArthur spent a lot of time in the Philippines. It is hard to find *documentary* movies for Philippines around WWII.This movie could have added a bit more factual context around the period, either in the movie, or perhaps some special bonus feature. The movie sometimes get long-winded and boring. One reason could be that itis a low-budget movie so things can get a lot of "deja-vu" (too static scenarios).

MacArthur
Once again Gregory Peck pulls off a wonderful performance as MacArthur. I was glued to the screen all the way through until it reaches its quite tear jerking finale. Well worth purchasing.
