Initially I purchased it for my dogs. When they showed no interest in it I decided it would make a beautiful, live centerpiece for my coffee table! Love it, though I wish the dogs would prefer it to the weeds they eat. When I read the instructions it seemed a little more involved than I wanted. There are a few steps but the end result is well worth it! You will grow lovely, green, lush grass. Even if the pets pass on it, it is suitable for human consumption. My significant other uses it in his health drink every morning. A few steps into the living room, a few snips and it is fresh and in his blender! I will continue to use this even if the dogs are too foolish to enjoy it! Perhaps in time they will come around!

We all love it, the humans and the cats. It is a great set with a good price. I think I used too much seed on 2 trays and it was bursting at the seams. I am that back cutting next time.The cats got one tray which they absolutely loved! On the other tray, since I do not have a wheat grass juicer, I used scissors to chop grass in 1/2 inch pieces into high speed blender mixed with aloe juice and lemon juice which I blended into a mash to use freeze for our green smoothies. It is good in them and I did not taste the grass amidst the frozen banana and frozen organic berries, almond extract and touch of liquid stevia for sweetness. Healthy and delicious, grass and all!

This cat grass kit would be wonderful if it wasn't such a pain to grow the grass. You don't just sprinkle seeds in the dirt, water them, and wait for them to grow like growing any other cat grass seeds. The directions have a list of 10 instructions that need to be followed, to a tea, to grow the seeds. I've never seen anything like it! And leaving the seeds untended for a few days, is totally impossible because you need to stay home to tend to them. And if I have a chance to go somewhere, I'll have to take the seeds with me, or hire a seed sitter because of the annoying fact that the seeds need constant attention.That said, I am following the directions that came with the kit, but as a growing test, I also sprinkled some seeds in a pot, lightly covered the seeds with dirt, and hope they grow like seeds are supposed to grow.Another thing is, there are way more seeds than needed! Holy cow! I couldn't grow all of them in my lifetime ;-)*UPDATE!*My original rating was 1 star because of the difficulty of planting. I switched up to a 4-star rating.These seeds absolutely do not have to be grown according to the directions that come with the Kit! It's unfortunate that the company doesn't suggest that option.All you do is sprinkle seeds on top soil ~~ no soaking the seeds necessary, beforehand ~~ lightly cover with more dirt, gently water, and set out to grow. And you're done. They start showing growth in about 3 days. I have the original tray loaded with grass, plus 2 small flower pots also full of grass. All grown not using the directions.As a side note, my dogs show no interest, what so ever. But my cats love it.

My dogs are inside and there is no grass outside for them to chew on, and I thought they would like this. My dogs are not that interested in it. Next time I will use half the recommended amount of the seed, and a deeper growing container

This is great. My two, older adopted cats, are strictly indoors. I start a quarter cup of seeds every 3 months or so, and they love the fresh greens. If I get behind on schedule, they try to eat houseplants, which is dangerous. It starts easier than the package suggests. You do not have to go the dark, covered route. Just keep it misted. When the seeds sprout, they take off on their own. I put a rubber band over the pot, so the grass can grow great and the cats can't get too excited and steal the entire plant. If you don't secure the planting, the cats will take it out of the container.

Product looked great,but my dog,who loves to eat grass, totally hated it.Even when it was about 3 inches he showed no interest in it.After it was fully grown I transferred 2 of the 3 trays into the ground thinking that may be the problem.That didn't work either so I have given up.I just let him go back to the free crabgrass on our walks.

waste of time

I love this wheat grass kit. I buy it for Snow (my cat). She loves this grass. I tried another type of grass and it didn't last long and it took longer to grow. This wheat grass is very easy to grow and it lasts about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks when taken care of. Snow eats a lot of grass and I have to make sure I always have it on hand for her. It's well worth the price.
