They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If that's true, then Johnson Hardware sure must be flattered, because this is about as close to an identical copy of their soft-close hardware as you can get (the only give-away is that Johnson's hardware is silver in color, whereas this hardware has a gold tone).I've installed a bunch of Johnson's pocket door and sliding bypass door kits in various properties and I think they're great. Smooth, reliable and sturdy. But, their soft-close kits aren't cheap.This alternative option is half the price and seems to be both functionally equivalent and just as sturdy. The wheels on the load-bearing portion of the hanger are substantial and roll smoothly on ball bearings. The soft-close damper operates smoothly with an appropriate amount of resistance/dampening. And the screws used to mount the hanger to the door are beefy.I see no reason that this won't perform comparably to the real-deal, but I will update this review accordingly if it doesn't hold up over time.

If these fit your track (see the illustration), they provide a nicer closing and opening experience. Unlike most standard rollers/ wheels for pocket doors, these are larger diameter ball bearing rollers and are far smoother and quieter. They are, as far as I can tell, equivalent to the rollers on premium pocket door sets.

This is a pretty good build on a slow close pocket door hanger. The slow close action is really smooth and works really well. The bearings in the wheels are also pretty good. They roll smooth. The whole kit is pretty good. Overall, I'd recommend it.

Ordered to have ready for a pocket door conversation for our downstairs bathroom. Really needed the space back from the swing door it previously was. This worked out perfectly. Very smooth open/close. Easy install. Durability will be tested over time, right?
