Brings back good old memories
The media could not be loaded. This is a hardcover book with a dust jacket. It contains almost 200 pages of full colour illustrations.Right at the front is a multi-fold page that unfolds into a small Dragon Ball poster with a thank you note from Akira Toriyama.Following on are illustrations from the weekly JUMP title covers as well as comic covers. Each is fully coloured and reproduced big. It really brings back memories of reading the comic, as well as anticipating weekly at the comic book store. It's really great again to marvel at the uniform ink strokes and character designs of Akira Toriyama.Every piece of work is annotated at the back of the book. Included is also the very unique sequential spine art for the comic, which at that time I thought was really cool. There are also mugshots of Akira Toriyama over the years, including photos and icons. An interview with Akira Toriyama is also included to give this book some depth. There's really nothing not to like about this book if you're a Dragon Ball fan.(More pictures are available on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)

So many memories <3
I absolutely love this book. I've admired Akira Toriyamas work for as long as I can remember. His artwork in Dragon Ball and Z is the original reason why I ever started drawing in the first place, and on a larger scale, how I was introduced to the whimsical and fantastical. I have so many fond memories of both stories growing up and it will forever remain my favorite anime and manga for the rest of my days. This book has some of the most iconic moments from both stories in Toriyamas wonderful style, includes the volume covers, artwork from various issues, and even an interview with the man himself. It did arrive a bit dented on one corner, but I suspect that's more USPS's fault than anything else, so I cannot complain about the seller. They quickly responded to my emails and were very swift in shipping. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase :D

Thanks.
Again a happy Dad for wining a Best Dad Day, I really don't give a close look at the construction and appearance of books, I just open them read what I need and put it back right? But when I opened the box with my little one standing next to me and barely being able to contain the his urge to push me down and out of his way as I gave it a look over I must say this book is well constructed and the illustrations are top notch., this book is Awesome.,

A Great Hardcover Collection of A Master Storyteller
I've been a fan of Dragon Ball since it came on in syndication in the mid 1990s in the dark ages before the internet really gained traction amongst the populace of this world. When they brought Dragon Ball Z here, I felt I was watching something great. Viz brought the manga Stateside around the same time Cartoon Network began airing it on their late great Toonami block. I learned the name Akira Toriyama, and I've grown to respect the creator over the decades. He's a master storyteller who created a series that honored Chinese legends of the past, created a link to Western storytelling devices, including superheroics and sci-fi, and provided some of the best fighting sequences and characters ever brought to the pages and eventually television sets around the world for close to three decades. This book's title, Dragon Ball: The Complete Illustrations, is a bit of a misnomer. It's an English version of a Japanese art book published after Dragon Ball's conclusion in Weekly Shonen Jump back in 1995, so it doesn't include rare character sketches nor any promotional images for the animated series, including the Toei-driven Dragon Ball GT. What you do see are familiar images throughout the decade-long series appear in beautiful color, including covers and various character images. You could see the evolution of Mr. Toriyama's art and design practices over the decade, and as an illustrator, I feel inspired by his works. There's even a rare interview with him at the book's end.In another life, something like this would have been very pricey, and it would have been out of my price range. At Amazon, it's (at the time of this writing) under $20, a steal at any cost. So, if you're a long time fan of the manga and animated series or you're just discovering the awesomeness of Dragon Ball courtesy of the airings of Dragon Ball Z Kai on Nicktoons and The CW, check out this book.

Delivery was fast and product was in great condition. The book itself is a must-have for any Dragon Ball fan and has lots of great illustrations! The main focus is on the early adventurous of Goku & co. so if you are looking for illustrations that revolve more around Z this might leave you wanting.I personally think it's a great addition to the manga's i used to read as a kid and am very happy with this purchase. It smells a little funny but it's not too strong (I assume its the paper it is printed on).

Cool book. Still on the fence about whether it was worth the price of admission. Probably only worth it if you're a die hard Dragonball fan. Something that really bothered me is that certain illustrations that had tons of detail did not get the full page blow up they deserved (which left me squinting and frustrated) and others that didn't have near the amount of detail were the ones that got blown up. Looking through the book made me wonder how much thought (if any) they put into page layouts. The book shows the stylistic progression of Akira Toriyama from the beginning of Dragonball with his rounded softer style to the end of DBZ where he got much more angular and tough. Near the end of the book they show all of the magazine covers (I think from Shonen Jump) where Dragonball characters appear but they are so small I don't know why they even bothered doing it. I think for what the book cost they should have blown up the covers.
