just what i was looking for in a backpack for travel

I took this backup on a week long trip and just returned. It performed pretty well.It’s comfortable, despite having thinner straps. Those thinner straps are actually a boon as my other backup has thick cushioning straps, but my watch ALWAYS gets caught on it. With this backup, not as much of an issue.It has a strap for attaching to my luggage, and that worked well; kept my backpack securely attached and not loose atop my rolling case.There are several pockets.Zippered PocketsHuge pocket, where I keep my 17” laptop. Very spacious. It could hold two laptops easily. That is just a cavernous area. A zippered pocket but no key holder, just SPACE.Tablet pocket, my IPad Pro 12.0” fit there well, with space for cables, accessories, etc.A smaller front pocket, with two open pockets and again, more space. Those open pockets are perfect for portable usb drives, 2.5” variety.Magnetic clasp pocketshere is where I have a problem with the backup. I do like the convenience of magnetic clasps because, let’s face it, zippers can get stuck and buttons or buckles get fussy. However, the magnetic clasps are silent and I was constantly on the alert that someone would discretely open a pocket and abscond with the contents. That didn’t happen but what did happen, a few times, was the pocket flap would snag on something, and the flap would open. Only once with something fall out, my phone. After that, I only placed disposable items, gum, napkin, mother-in-law photo, pens, etc.It’s also a very good looking backup. The Navy Blue fabric with the contrasting shiny brass zippers and dark brown leather accents make for a good looking backup. This also means it is soft-sided and I worried, needlessly, about the content protection. I had a couple of unexpected bumps and a drop, nothing was harmed.Finally, where I travled experienced constant rain, sometimes a bucket-load. This backup protected the contents, I was exposed for about a minute in a downpour and there was no dampness felt on the inside of the back pack.The only thing missing is a dedicated internal key holder.

I ordered this for my wife as a work bag. She has only been able to use it a couple of times so I can’t really speak to the durability. The material and craftsmanship seems very nice and she was happy about the look. I can’t really give too much more detail because she hasn’t used it long enough to really give a detailed review

This is a very stylish backpack with understated elegance. It is extremely functional as well, holding at a minimum: my laptop, my iPad, my charging cables, my kindle, a hardback library book (sometimes, I can't wait for the e-Book to become available, my wallet, and space enough for quite a few other items that are comfortably nestled in this attractive backpack. I have actually used it to replace a far more expensive Tumi backpack because my Tumi (which I do love) did not have the organizational capabilities of this Joan & David

It's become my go-to bag for trips, and I couldn't be happier with it.My only criticism is that I wish there was a guide with suggestions of what each section can accommodate. A little guide would be great to know the best way to utilize all the compartments and straps. Overall, this backpack is a stylish and functional choice for travelers looking for a reliable and chic backpack. Highly recommended for those who value both style and practicality in their travel gear.
